Has anyone here ever installed the factory keyless entry system? The 95 NSX-T that I just bought does not have a keyless entry system, and I am going to either have it installed at the dealer, or purchase it and install it myself. It seems to be a plug and play type of install, according to the description, but I would like to know if I have to pull the door interiors off, etc. Also, does the factory system include a trunk release? Thanks in advance.

I installed the keyless on my 91 back in the fall. Very easy, the instructions in the box were well done. You have to remove the glove box. Find the correct plug that is taped the wiring harness and plug it in. I had to insert a couple wires in the an existing connector, but a newer model may not require it.

I bought mine from Dali Racing if you are looking to order one for a good price.

Thanks caz. I am thinking of getting it from ahmotors (saw the link in the engine glass thread and browsed their site.) They are only about 35 miles from me and it would be a nice drive on Saturday. They charge $384, which is in the neighborhood of what Dali charges.

9000RPMan,
Please post your observations on the install when you are done. I'm interested on seeing what is done for a 95 (like mine

When I get the keyless system I will post my observations. I have a friend who used to sell Acuras and is a whiz at car electrics, so if I can't do it (a distinct possibility ha ha) he will do it for me.

Is it worth getting the Acura Keyless when a good quality alarm system is about the same price? I know the car comes with the Theft Deterrent, but I heard that the Acura Keyless unit is kinda flakey. In addition you can get more features with an alarm. My car didn't come with the Keyless that's why I'm asking.

I considered an aftermarket alarm, but I swear, If I EVER get a car that beeps like freaking R2D2 when you unlock it, I will throw a TV set thru the window to avoid that noise!!!!

They should be able to hook it up to only flash the lights? Or disable the noise and/or flashing.
Then again no one pays attention to car alarms going off.

Seems like I paid less than that from my dealer buddy.
Very easy to install though. I didn't see an option for the trunk, at least not for a 92.

If you look at the ahmotor web site, as well as some of the threads, you will see that there is a jump in price from the 92 model to the 93 and later model.

Yeah I just installed an Aftermarket Alarm into my 91'. The dealer here wants about $600CND and stated that it was factory refurb with 90day warranty! I decided to go with aftermarket alarm, which was very easy to install, just time consuming and I consulted many times with a good friend who works at a stereo shop. Cost was $280CND for an Ungo (Clarion) with lifetime warranty!

I've got it so when I arm my aftermarket alarm, it arms the factory alarm. Same with disarm viseversa, which meant no need for ignition kill and use of factory horn, already in factory system. Works great with awesome range which is alot better than stock for sure as my ant is hidden in the top of the windshield. I know my buddy's NSX stock unit doesn't have a very good range, he loves mine! When you set the aftermarket off it sets off the factory which pops up the headlights and flashes them... I also have it flashing parking lights for arm/disarm and set off to flash as well...

I also was able to add a few other things Honda left out, thats if you care for these... Trunk Relese, Silient Arm/Disarm, intrusion alert, painc(I think OEM has this), dual stage shock sensor, dual zone perimiter sensor (which I only have the interior active) plus a few more spare channels for other useful/useless stuff such as pager, autostart etc...

If you do go this route I highly suggest going with pro installation from a well reputable security installer in you area. I also believe you will be safe staying with well known manufactures etc Clifford, Carbine, Ungo, Avital, Viper aka DEI product... If you need help with the install let me know, I might be of some assistance while its still fresh in my mind that is...

If you decide to go OEM this might help http://nsxhelp.com/faq/diy15.htm

I received my Acura Keyless Entry System yesterday. Today, after work I installed it. Total job time was just under 1 hour, and the hardest part was bending upsidedown to connect the new harness and tie it to the old one. The rest of the job, and the directions were a piece of cake. Apparently the directions are for an Acura tech, as they instruct you to "write down the frequencies on the radio preset buttons." And the last instructions are "Reset the clock" and "Reset the presets." Good to know they are thinking of the customer. Only wish it would flash the lights when it arms and disarms.
