I know most of you are car guys to the core, so I was just wondering if any one of you owns an Ultima GTR or ever ridden or driven one? If so, what were your thoughts?

Well, for under $150,000 I can't think of a better track or road car:

Price: $118,000 USD
Engine: American Speed-Modified Chevrolet V8
Position: Mid, Longitudinal
Valvetrain: Pushrod OHV, 2 Valves per Cyl
Fuel feed: Multipoint Fuel Injection
Displacement: 383.0 cu in
Power: 640 bhp @ 6500 rpm (THE 720 HAS 720BHP)
HP per litre: 101.96 bhp per litre
BHP/weight: 673.68 bhp per weight
Torque: 560 ft lbs @ 4800 rpm
Front brakes: Ventilated Discs
F brake size: 12.7 in
Rear brakes: Ventilated Discs
R brake size: 12.7 in
F suspension: Double Wishbones w/Adj Coil-Over-Dampers
R suspension: Double Wishbones w/Adj Coil-Over-Dampers
Weight: 2094 lbs
Transmission: Porsche G50 Five-Speed Transaxle
Top speed: 231 mph
0 - 60 mph: 2.7 seconds (better than a McLaren F1)
0 - 100 mph: 5.5 seconds
Skidpad: 1.176g sustained

That's got to be one of the best "bang-for-the-buck" performance cars out there - for almost 1/6th the price of an Ezno you get a BETTER 0-60 time (by .7 second), BETTER 0-100 time (by an entire second), BETTER weight (by a whopping 1/2 ton), BETTER hp (by 60hp), BETTER top speed (by 14mph), BETTER skidpad numbers (by .076g), etc....PLUS, you get to build it yourself, customize it the way you want it, and create a truly unique car - it's just an amazing deal for the money! PLUS, if something breaks, it's just a tuned Chevy motor, built right in Indiana, and parts are cheap (compared to ANY exotic) and the motor is easy to work on (again, compared to any exotic). And YES, they do make them in LHD, and they are able to be titled, registered, plated, and driven on the street.

Bang for ther buck for a 150k kit car... ;)

I understand what you mean but I do not see how can you compare track-rat-"supercar" with real supercars (Enzo, Zonda, CarreraGT, SLR): they maybe slower but they are on another planet concerning style, comfort, techonology, ...

Your comparison is similar of:
An emptied 400hp Twin Turbo Civic ;) is got to be one of the best "bang-for-the-buck" performance cars out there - for almost 1/6th the price of an NSX you get a BETTER 0-60 time (by .7 second), BETTER 0-100 time (by an entire second), BETTER weight (by a whopping 1/2 ton), BETTER hp (by 60hp), BETTER top speed (by 14mph), BETTER skidpad numbers (by .076g), etc....

Yeah, I guess what I mean is just pure performance standards alone...nothing about the comfort or quality of interior or anything like that. I figure, if I could afford this, I could afford a nice comfortable daily driver too that I could get all of that with. I don't know - I just think it's still a pretty amazing car.

By the numbers its great.
SO far I have yet to see it actually do "Great"
There was one in the One lap, looked like a several year old beat up race car.
And it didnt do well either.
One of my customers was looking at buying one and having me build it etc. We were goign to fly to the factory but he has since reconsidered.(It really didnt appeal to me either)
His C6 Z06 will be here in around a month, talk about bang for the buck.
$65K plus 30-40K in upgrades, thats going to be fun.
