After years of dreaming, I finally got my NSX. The bad thing is I still have to wait for the car to be shipped to here in Los Angeles from NC. The second bad thing is I found out the previous owner had an oil change done at Jiffy Lube with a Fram oil filter!!!! Yikes!

So I need to do an oil change asap when the car gets here. This is where I need advices from you folks who are in Los Angeles. 1) Where is the best place (in terms of being knowledgeable about the NSX and cost) to get the NSX serviced in LA? 2) Who is the best NSX mechanic in town?

Regarding the oil change, I was thinking of just buying the stock oil filter from Acura and taking the car to a local shop for an oil change and use just regular 10W30 oil instead of synthetic since I read in the FAQ that if the oil is changed regularly, synthetic oil is not really necessary unless you plan to track the car, which I don't (not at the moment anyway!).

Also, it was reported (by my friend who picked up the car for me) that the AC worked fine in manual mode, but in auto mode it was cutting in and out (turning on and off?) and that the fan seems to run only at minimum or maximum speed, but nothing in between. Anyone who has had a similar problems, please advice.

Thanks in advance for all your help. God bless all of you.

Welcome and Congrats! Sounds like you have some minor service needs. Do a search in this forum, there should be quite a few shops that pop up with people's opinions or suggestions.

Come on out to the next local meet, and you can personally find out from other owners regarding service and repairs.

Welcome Tom

Congratulations on your new purchase. What color did you get?
Where in LA are you (Souther?). Maybe we will see you at the autoX this saturday 9/6/03. Lots of NSXs will be there. :) :)

Thanks to SilverOne, loomup, and especially to RyRy210 for the info on Jon Martin at South Bay Acura. I was given his name by another NSX owner too. I wish I could attend the autoX this Sat. but I will be out-of-town. Maybe next time. As for my car, it's a blk/blk 95 auto NSX-T (I know, why buy an NSX and get an auto transmission? But I'm terrible at driving a stick shift, and my girlfriend wants to drive it too ;-( and we live in LA !!!) Right now, I still don't have the car. I'm arranging for it to be shipped from Raleigh, NC to LA. Hopefully I'll get it before my birthday in 2 weeks. Again, thanks to all who replied.
