Just bought my 2nd mid-engine car

Thats right! now I'm a two mid-engined family

a 1985 Toyota MR2 (first year). 119,000 miles. Great condition. And, I bought it from the origonal owner. About three years ago he took it out of storage and had major work done to put it back in driving condition including new timing belt/water pump, fixed AC, water hoses, battery, tires/brakes.

I bought it because I knew him and the car, and it was cheap. Does anyone know about these early MR2's? Good/bad? It looks like it will be a good fun beater car.

Mike, the last time I drove an older MR2 (not as old as yours) it had some major play in the steering. Yours is better I hope.

I had a '89 and 2 '87s all NA, they were a blast!

They are typically described as big go-carts. They still have a cult following and are still pulling good times at the track and autocross events. I think they are good cars if you find the right ones.

you know it's fun... I've been in a couple and in my mind they're fun simply because you can keep your foot down the whole time
