I just wanted to let any interested buyers know about a 96 NSX-T that is for sale at cars.com: http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail.jsp?tracktype=usedcc&searchType=78&paId=211050450&pageNumber=0&numResultsPerPage=50&largeNumResultsPerPage=0&sortorder=descending&sortfield=PRICE+descending&certifiedOnly=false&recnum=2&leadExists=true&criteria=K-%7CE-%7CM-_1_%7CD-_4_%7CN-N%7CR-100%7CI-1%7CP-PRICE+descending%7CQ-descending%7CZ-92374&aff=national

VIN: JH4NA1183TT000119

The listing and CARFAX doesn't show it, but this car has been wrecked and restored (damage to one entire side and the unibody). Now if that's ok with you, that's great and enjoy it, since the car is gorgeous.

How do I know this? I contacted the previous owner (i.e., I was interested in buying it from him in August) and he was completely honest  and told me the whole story. Since I wanted an undamaged NSX, even if well restored, I didn't buy it from him. The new seller hasn't listed any of this info in his ad.

My search continues...

Re: Just a little warning...

Looks like this car is up for sale on Autotrader.com (and other sites)

It is located at Honda of Pasedena

Price just reduced some $10000 to $29988

The dealer says it was a dealer demo? Funny. Obviously it has over 65k miles so it hasn't been a dealer demo for a long time. Not sure - but glad to have info on any car.

So, a question to our fine community....

Do I call the dealer and tell them what I know about the car as a service to them, or are they simply going to tell me to go to hell...?

Oh, and I will say...ouch on the price, as in the overall drop. I think the guy I was talking to in August of 2006 was selling it for $40-$45K at the time. I forget his exact price.

They could blow you off, or they could thank you for the information and immediately sell it to a wholesaler. Or, have the wholesaler/auction house take it back if this wasn't disclosed to them when they bought it. If they bought it at auction they can buy a 7 to 14 day warranty with an inspection that allows them to return it for a full refund. I work at a car dealership and I would certainly want to know this information about a $30k used car we just got in!

I was excited when I saw this car is for sale in Los Angeles on ebay. Now that I know that its been wrecked, I'm not so interested. Thanks NSX Prime!! my search continues...

prime strikes again! One of the great benefits of prime which I never would have predicted when prime first went live....but being such a low production vehicle and having so many interested fans of the car popping the vin into the search box can really pay off.

docjohn the search button hasnt worked for almost a year now. I have typed in some of my wrecks VINs and nothing pops up.

the only way to use the data NSXPRIME has is go to a search engine and put in the VIN and add the word "NSXPRIME" then it will pop up

not sure if LUD knows about this I dont complain about anything since its the best site on the planet

Not on the autocheck either

as someone in active search for an nsx, i also agree that the dealer will likely do nothing. they have an incentive to do the due diligence when acquiring the car. they have no incentive to diminish the car's value when selling the car. we don't know what they really know and what they would do with that knowledge, but those are the incentives. More likely than not, they know the car's history and are waiting for an unsuspecting buyer who has yet find nsxprime.

btw, i don't dislike dealers completely. honesty seems to coincide with thoroughness when it comes to dealers. those dealers that have an established reputation to protect seem to do a very thorough history check on their cars. go figure.

Most likely browser dependant. The search box works fine in Chrome

Glad my ancient post is still helping Primers today! As for the lack of showing up in Autocheck… Makes complete sense since the owner I spoke with all those years ago said a very close friend owned a high-end frame shop and did all the work to straighten it… hence, no public record...
