Hey guys,

I will bve sending my coilovers to the guys at JIC to get them rebuilt, I will probably ask them to upgrade the spring since I think they came with the preset factory settings which are 9kg/10kg front/rear.

I was thinking to something like 11kg/9kg front/rear, but also my friend was telling me that I should get them revalved, But I dont even know what specs should I ask them to revalve them?

Maybe shimmed to 2mm wider?

Has anyone got the coilovers revalved before?

Thanks,

Are you sending them to Jon (JIC) in California? If so, just go with said spring rates and have the dampers valved for those rates.

Yes I am sending them to the guys at JIC, Brian would be working on them.

I am kind of confused of why most guys run 11Kg front and 8Kg rear, I mean I know why, but why JIC runs their spring rates inverted?

They were telling me that because of MR platform the NSX needs the stiffer springs at the back, And I think that because of the NSX natural tendency to oversteer, It should have the shofter rates at the back am I correct?

When I talk to Brian I asked him if I could just switch the springs rear to front and fron to rear , and he told that as long as it doesnt affect the the ride hight it should be fine....should I just do that? and get them revalved to the inverted rates?

I'm not sure if 'they' know the NSX's motion ratios. If you run the same spring rate at all 4 corners (lets say 500lb spring), the rear WHEEL rates will be higher than the front - due to the suspension geometry and pick up points. Running higher spring rates in the rear relative to front makes the rear wheel rates substantially higher than the front.

You can make this setup work but you are fighting an inherent oversteer balance due to the spring rate choice (higher rear spring rates than front).

Ask JIC if they would reccomend revalving the dampers if you swap the springs F-R.

Hey Billy, Thanks for shining some light on this topic.

I sent the dampers this afternoon, and I have found what the actual rates are on the springs I have two 9kg and two 10kg.

I had been talking to Brian trying to explain how the NSX should have stiffer rates at the front, but he tells me that because of the engine on the back the car need stiffers springs at the front!!
And I feel I should not be arguing with JIC's suspension builder!!

On the other hand, he did tell me that there is not necessity to change the valving if the rates are change just for a couple kg's.

I guess, I will just invert the springs instead of using them as they come from JIC?

10kg front and 9kg back. The springs are the same lenght 178mm but the 10kg ones are thicker of course.

I have Dali's 22mm Front and rear swaybars, so I can play with them in case of too much over/under steer.

Thanks,

EDIT: Sorry when I said THEY I meant JIC(Brian)

Quick update, I got my coilovers back from JIC.
The guys at JIC are amazing, Brian was just an outstanding person to deal with.

The dampers didn't have to be revalved at all, but they were rebuilt.

I am now running, 11kg front and left 9kg at the back.
Had the car out on the track, and the difference from driving blown rear shocks is papable.

Going to the track on Saturday again, I am just hoping to get more comfortable with car so I can push harder.

I have a couple things coming like a Dali front bar, Dave's pivot clamps, and in a couple weeks I should be getting the rear beam bushings and toe end links and a front camber kit,
but I am thinking I should not install those until I have driven the car more so I can really tell the difference .

What do you guys think?

Well, for my little experience the back end is no steping out that easy, or at all.
I am ok with the understeer so I can learn how to drive the car.

Tomorrow I will try to push the car alot more since I feel I been driving it like an old lady so far, mostly on high speed corners.

I think I am afraid I will get onto a hard oversteer and won't be able to catch it back.

I'll be recording some sessions so I can post them here.

Just came back from the track and loved it!!!

Alot faster than I was before, pushed the car a little more.
To my feeling it was very neutral, now I dont know if I want to add anymore suspension bits! I will add them one by one and see how the car reacts to each change.

Now if I can only figure out how to upload the videos to youtube....
