I'm loving the speed ch coverage of jgtc.I'm also amazed at the performance of the 500 class nsx engine. How on earth is a 3.5l v6 able to pull away on the straights from the 8l v10 vipers and 6l v12 of the maclarens! The motor sounds like an f-1 motor in the proccess, fantastic.Plus the cockpit is unclutered and has a rear facing camera which I think should be helpful in some of our sports car racing.Anyway can anyone here tell me how the nsx can have the hp/lb advantage over those amazing rivals? The porsche gtrs which are bloody quick are in the lessor 350 class, wow.

I agree, docjohn! I noticed there are both 3.2 and 3.5 litre NSX's in that series. Do you happen to know the stats (hp and torque)
on the 3.5 motors? Any chance they are developing this motor for the next NSX?

You can get lots of information on this site.

Also, make sure you check out their promotional movie as well (on the left column of the website)! It's quite cool!

I know that the McClarens have been detuned for this series.

But the 3.5s are pushing 450 - 500 hp, hence the GT500 and GT300 class names.

What I found amazing was the new air restrictors that appeared on the NSX mid-way through the season. I guess this is to remain competitive on tracks that have higher elevations against the turbos and superchargers.

I thought the vemac was cool also.

Thanks for the replies. From the above data the nsx weighs~2570lbs,and torque~300ft/lbs,so please someone help me understand how that car can out accelerate much torquier v-10,v-12 machines. These other cars were'nt on the same pace.I did love how one handed these guys drive though. From the in car vid one of the drivers kept his hand on the seq. shift as he one hand steers for quite awhile, around a shunt as well!Lets hope they will show more race footage rather than the readers digest version.

Speed channel for me is 607 on sat. tv and the jgtc is on monday nights.

doc, they use limiters on higher hp cars. all GT500 cars have a imit of 500ps, and GT300 have limit of 300ps. But there is no limit on torque, that's why the Supra and skyline has a huge advantage over the NSX on high speed tracks. (turbo=big torque!)

Thanx for the info. The formula works pretty well along with rewards weight. To knock the macleran to 500 hp they must have the redline at 4k of dixi cup size intake restrictors!
