Gents,
Lets figure out our route here from OC to meet the crews in LA and do a final gathering at the Mills as Steve mentioned from other post.

Please click in your input.....

Steve, are you working on CHP escort as well :D?

Anywho, I think we should meet in Irvine, and pick up a few straglers along the 405 like we have done prior..yes? no? maybe so?

From OC, wouldn't it be faster/better to go up the 5N then 57N, hit the 10E or 60E to go out to Ontario Mill?

We'll probably pick up the LA folks along the freeway junctions of 5, 21, 57, 91, 60, 10..etc?

For the OC group, the most centralize pick up point is right at 91 and 55. And from 91, we can take 15 north. OC folks can get their from 21, 91, 55.

Instead of gathering everyone (80+ cars) just outside of the raceway, I think LA, SD and OC groups are better off making separate arrangement. It'll be a lesser headache heading into the track with fewer cars. I'll bet the OC group is big enough to cause a traffic jam already. We may even run into the SD group heading north on 15 if we time it just right.

The last couple times they had races at Calif. Speedway, they close off Cherry off ramp and divert traffic thru other exits.

I think the best way to keep a big group is to meet at Walmart off Foothill and I-15. It is just east of the FWY, than take Foothill to Cherry and turn right to the track. It is a short drive (very short), but is would be fairly easy to keep the group together.
This is from post #19 on this thread: http://www.nsxprime.com/forums/showthread.php?p=380298#post380298 regarding additional traffic info.

I like this meeting point. is there an exact location? homedepot? empty parking lot? do tell

ss_md, I was actually suggesting to avoid doing a grand entrance by staging all 80+ cars outside of the track. Instead, we'll drive straight from 91/55 to the VIP parking.

PoohBEAR, I am not familiar with that area. I was hoping that someone from that area can help out. I do remember that we had a monthly meeting ....

Edit: Please ignore the meeting place I've suggested earlier. Target is the final meeting place.

since we will be arriving/departing early, we wouldn't be needing any permission....we'll be gone before anyone notice. as such, any open space would do.....anyone in the area can chime in?

brad,
please let steve know that if he needs some help transporting, i am sure we have some room in the back:D

I wasn't suggesting the alternate route to arrive with a "Grand Entrance", I was letting everyone know the traffic flow patterns that James noted!! Either way: mini-caravan, large caravan or any individual arriving before gate opening will be sitting in traffic. James' route just avoids un-necessary turn-arounds and blocked streets. JMHO

The 91 and 55 meeting location seems ideal....but hey, I'll follow the crowd wherever.

Keep us updated!...lets decide soon.

Sounds good.

I'm in for sure, what time?

Hey Fellas

I used to live in that Weir Canyon area. There is a huge Target parking lot on the South side of the freeway. Getting back would be much easier.

From 91East, Exit Weir Canyon turn Right at light
1st light (Santa Ana Canyon Road) turn Right
1st Light turn Left. Target is immediately in front of you.

Getting back onto the 91 East is a breeze. If we meet on the North Side of the 91, its a bit more complicated IMO.

If this location works I can go double check the route.

Thanks for the info Bambookid! You are right, Weir Canyon Acura is around 1/2 mile north off 91.

I guess the next thing we need to find out is what time we'd have to be there so that we can determine the departure time from Target.

awesome. So if the event starts at 9am, should we leave, let's say... no later than 8am and set the time around 7:45 - 8am? or should we do this earlier?

I like to suggest we leave at 7:30sharp!!!! That will give us time to make for any delay we may encounter.

Location:

From 91East, Exit Weir Canyon turn Right at light
1st light (Santa Ana Canyon Road) turn Right
1st Light turn Left. Target is immediately in front of you.

bump this to the top...since this is now the Final meeting location!

Drive safe...and see u all at the JGTC!

Count me in as well, if you get there a bit earlier you can grab some breakfast at Coco's in the same lot. See you there, hopefully with all my mods on by then Autowave has them on order and I'm crossing my fingers they come in time :frown:

Are we really meeting at 7:30 am at the Target parking lot? ddaaaammmnnn that's early. I figure the drive from Target to Fontucky will only be 20 mins (at 120mph    ). Is there stuff do do between 9-12 when the race starts?

So 7:30 right? Or will it be a little later?
Ed

You may want to wait and see what time folks are going to try arriving at the event, before finalizing your meeting time. I hear CA AgNSX is talking with the event organizers to figure that out...
