I got flipped off twice yesterday while driving home. Some chick in an old BMW passed me on the right, cut me off, and put her breaks on to avoid hitting the car in front of her. I pulled the dimmer switch to pop up the headlights and flashed at her. She gave me the bird!

A few miles later, full blown traffic on a four lane road, this guy in an old van changes lanes to get behind me. He is now 6" off my rear bumper at 45 miles per hour. I couldn't go anywhere with the traffic in front of me and beside me. I turned my head to look at him out the rear window to let him know to back off. Finally I was able to change lanes...so does he...again 6" behind me. When I finally get to my exit I look at him as I get off the freeway and he flips me off as well!

I've noticed this only happens in the NSX. When I drive my old, beat-up RX-7, never happens. I guess they figure I have nothing to loose when I am in that car. Also, it never happens if I am driving the wife's car.

Do you experience the same, or is it just the jerks that drive around my town?

Try coming to Houston! And then I always get those people that change lanes at red light to get into the empty lane. But then when the light turns green, they start driving slow!! Sometime I honestly think no one in Houston can drive besides me!!! :D
Ok, I need to stop thinking about this, blood pressure is rising. :p

Dtrigg,

Take heart. It is everywhere in the states. In KC the 6" tailgate and the 6" cut-off are not common; but, also, are not rare. If people could lose their license for such behavior, it would be a boon for those of us who try to be polite behind the wheel.

I agree with you guys that there are lots of jerk drivers around, but my point is that it happens to MUCH more often when I am driving my NSX versus other cars.

Yes, I've noticed it myself. Seems to only be in my X. I thought I was just more sensitive to aggressive drivers in that car, but I had my suspicions to the contrary. It always seems that the a-holes are out to bug the crap outta me when I'm out cruising around. And, to get them off my back, I end up driving over the speed limit and sometimes a little aggressively myself. Kinda bugs me.

Also, it seems that everyone and their brother is out to race. I don't mind playing around now and then, but only under controlled circumstances. Not during rush hour!

I got tail gated by a Mitsubishi Lancer (not Evolution) a few days ago. I let him passed and follow him to his house. He quickly got out of his car and lock the gate and enter his house. I shouted at him if he is a man get out and confront me man to man. I waited 15 mins outside but it doesn't seem that he is getting out. I told his neighbours what had happen and that I'll be coming back to kick his bottom.

I agree! There are an amazing number of drivers who are intimidated by the NSX, even if the car is just sitting by itself in a parking lot. I guess you have to take the good with the bad though, because there are also a lot of drivers that recognize what the NSX is, and I love getting thumbs up from them.

NSX FoYoAss,

I was in Houston this past weekend, and I noticed that there are lots of drivers in your city who does not pay attention to the cars in front and behind them. I was cut off many times in a very short span of time.

As for driving in San Diego, I don't have the same problem as some of you. Most of the time the other cars stay away from me.

why I can't say.

Hope you all drive safe. :)

I have had similar experiences in St.Louis both good ,and bad. I would like to think that most people would appreciate a beutiful car,but some people are shallow, and make negative judjements. Once, i had to slowly navigate a steep incline" so as not to rip my front bumper off", and a middle aged woman behind me decided to hold her horn button for a full mile!! It was so rediculous to me i decided to stop on the one lane bridge ahead of us,and use my hazard lights. I dont know if she got out of her car to help or hurt me, but i gave her the finger and sped away.

Two days ago my buddy got flipped off twice by the same laddy, while he was out cruising in his 3000gt. After she flipped him off the second time, she went to pass him on his left side, and that is when he made a "V" with is middle and index fingers and stuck out his tongue between the fingers and wiggled it at her!!!! hahaha :D

Whenever you drive a car people strive for, you will be subject to the folks who cast stones...but better we get fingers! :D

during my way to work one morning and making transition to another freeway which has only 2 lanes, a lady cuts me off on the left lane because the right lane was packed. i had to step on the brake hard, made a hugeee smoke cloud, and passed her on the emergency lane to the right to avoid the collision and to make thing worst, SHE GAVE ME A FINGER AS I PASSED. i was furious and stopped in the middle of the freeway, got out of my car and walked toward her car to ask what the f**k she was thinking. I also got on 911 and reported to the CHP of her behavior. yes, she locked her doors.

One time a car stopped behind me so close at a stoplight. I was so tempted to get out, walk to the front of the driver's car and motion him to pull up even closer to my car while showing how close he was to my rear bumper. Not that I'd want him to. Just to prove the point that he already was too close to my car.

For some reason, the NSX brings out lots of negativity in people; people that probably will never have a chance to touch or let alone own a car like this. You know what I do, I shake my head, pointed at my car, look at them and laugh.

Well, as a resident of Toronto, I've had every experience in one form or another in all manner of vehicles. I've actually found more people clear the left lane when they see me coming, and no one's flipped me off in the NSX. Seen a few thumbs. In fact, I had a lot more grief in the Miata. I think we just, as a group, care more about our NSXs and probably ARE better drivers than the majority. Otherwise we might have been attracted to different vehicles...like Navigators or something( ahoy cap'n). I try not to go out when it's congested in the NSX. I take my wife's Liberty...(ugh). I hate trucks, but it beats the anxiety and stress of warding off rush-hour zombies intent on their big gulp coffee and whoever is on the other end of their cel phone!

I recently moved to San Diego and have been here just over two weeks now. There are far more reckless drivers here than in LA, without a doubt. Even when I was here for a single day on business once or twice a month earlier this year, I was cut off, harassed, and more defensive than I've ever had to be in LA, traffic or on the open highways.

The tailgating is SOOOOOOOOOO bad in San Diego.

During the day people drive like the WIND. So they try the same thing, eventually F-up, and cause a horrendous traffic jam. So, your either stuck in traffic because of an idiot, or your being cut off constantly without traffic.

Pulling out of the left lane only happens on the Autobahn. Everywhere else, its a lot more rare unless your interstate driving or living in California where its a big joke.

Yeah, I get tailgated far more often in my NSX than I did in my Accord, and it's SO much more annoying when almost everyone around here drives a freaking SUV with headlights at the same level as my rear view window.

Not only that, but since relatively few people in America ever learn to drive a stick (this would include me if I hadn't bought the NSX), they don't realize how #$%^ annoying it is to pull right up to your bumper when you're stopped on a hill waiting for a light.

Yeah, sometimes I think the Missouri state bird is the finger. It makes you look like such a redneck.

I've had some interesting reactions from people that i don't really know how to interpret. A couple times I've had cars come up behind me and flash me. U would think this means "get out of the way" so sometimes i'll move over, but then they'll move over also to stay behind me. What gives? This an odd way of saying "nice car" or trying to get me to take off down the road. It makes me nervous because i think something is falling off my car and they're trying to warn me hehe.

Other times I've had people give me a quick honk. Not always from people behind me, some times when i pass through intersections. Again this could be people saying "nice car" or my car might be shooting flames from underneath it and i just don't know.

As a whole i seem to get harassed by other drivers more when I'm in my celica (total rice rocket).... Usually by other kids in rice rockets. They tend not to pay to much attention to the NSX.

Just for added piece of mind, I do keep my club (anti theft device) in the passenger seat area all the time... u never know, lotta stupid people out there and i use my car as my daily driver so sometimes I drive through not the best of areas. :p

I've owned a few cars in my time and the NSX draws a lot of attention, both positive and negative. It's like you're instantly stereotyped. If it's a bad stereotype, someone always has to go out of their way to let you know they don't like you.
