so i heard jenson button took the type-r for a spin at tochigi and absolutely fell in love with it.
so much that he actually ordered one to be shipped to his home in monaco.

i believe his words were something to the effect of, 'i have never driven a production street car as good as this'.

has anyone seen this story?

it's nice to have another F1 pilot since senna to openly endorse the nsx.

I have not heard that story yet if you could post a link that would be sweet. Its nice to se F1 fans here. Last year I was pulling for Juan Pablo, but since I have a nsx now then I will be pulling for BAR. I really like Eddy Jordan its too bad he is Ford now.

Count me in among the F1 fans on the forum. I'm pulling for BAR this season also because of the Honda connection. It would be nice to see Honda reasert itself as the engine builder it once was -- wouldn't it be nice to knock the Ferrari lads down a notch or two

I am hard F-1 Fan too. I was rooting for Jordan and BAR last year..and its sad to that Jordan took them Cosworth Engines. But all the better for BAR, now Honda can concentrate of engine and chassis development with one team.

I personally like to see Takuma Sato in the drivers seat in BAR. Come the race in Suzuka, you know who's gonna be in a BAR car.

McLaren all the way!!!
Hopefully they'll have a better engine this year!

*NSX content* McLaren was the most succesiful in F1 with Honda motor, and who could forget Senna? And also, when Gordan Murry was designing the F1 street car, he used the NSX as a refrence.

Porsche 996 for sale!

a good friend of mine gave me that bit of information. i didn't think to ask him where he got it! however, i did pick up the latest issue of F1 and there is a story on button and a picture of him driving the nsx-r. that's probably where he read it.

i was a huge mclaren fan when senna was with them. was a follower when they had mika and coultard. now i'm a little impartial, but hopefully honda can get some good results with bar. i have this strange feeling that toyota will be impressing a lot of people though.

Wow! Nice to see lots of F1 fans. I am of course a fan of everything Honda but I was able to get some great pics from the paddock in Imola last year and from the Paddock Club in Canada. If someone wants to private me I can send you some amazing pics of the inside of the BAR garage.

Just post here on Prime, i'm sure others would like to see your pix.

Yeah, a few are addicted to many forms of racing, F1 is one such form for me, although i'm not quite sure many here really care that much about any of the series in the US.

The new Honda F1 engine seems to be better somewhat, but still has engine problems.

In Barcelona, JV was getting 1:18.799 and JB was getting 1:18.195

Toyota seems to be getter slightly better times with Panis getting 1:16.386 and da Matta getting 1:17.008.

The pole position for that track was 1:16.34 by Schumacher last year.

I agree that Toyota will do much better this year with Panis. Toyota engines seem pretty strong. Their drivers just weren't too good last year in my opinion.

The article that have this quote is in the current issue of F1 Racing magazine. This issue's main topic is the BAR Honda team.

Click here to see how the magazine cover looks like.

A bunch of other info such as BAR-005, and Honda engine for the upcoming season are also among the articles. A must for BAR or Honda F1 fans.

cpmoran, I do not want to go off topic but this could save you some headache: do not buy watches from ebay without being SURE it is the real thing. You cannot imagine how good Swiss genuine replica (real gold where gold should be, real movements, ...) are.

thanks, but I would rather have a tein coil overs than a watch. I just posted for others.

yeah, i posted a notice on this topic in "off topic" on 24 jan, but no one took notice.

it's good to have F1 fans around...

F1 fan since my college days in England (late 60's). Waited almost 20 years to see our beloved Ferrari up on top again (BTW, they were both the fastest at Barcelona yesterday in the OLD cars).
We'll probably see Honda generate more white steam than wins this year just like they did last year. MacLaren and Williams will catch up first; Honda is too busy with hybrids and vans.

YES! that would be an exciting rivalry. especially in the rain. i guess the wildcard would be what team senna would be piloting for. with ferrari's dominance from a mechanical perspective, it wouldn't be an apple to apple comparison, but it still would be much more interesting than the competition that's going on now. senna was the man...no doubt.

Huge F1 fan here. Have been watching ever since I caught a glimpse of Villneuve (the real Villneuve, Gilles not Jacques) powersliding his Ferrari. As an American of Italian descent, I am a Ferrari fan. It only took 20 years until I got to see Ferrari win! I have been going to the Canadian GP almost every year since 1986. Does anyone else go? The drive through upstate NY via 287 is an incredible drive. I topped out my friend's 328 GTS one year, was incredible. As much as Montreal is a great race, Monza is even better. When I went to Monza and saw a Ferrari 1-2 in 1998, the crowd literally rushed onto the track. Theres no feeling like being in that crowd as Schumacher sprays champagne on you, and of course I was near that big heart shaped Ferrari banner. If anyone is going to Montreal this year, let me know.

I love F1, especially given the struggle going on in CART. I feel that the old INDY car series was the best and most exciting series in the world. I find it especially exciting when old INDY and CART champions move to F1. JPM showed the world that he was Schumacher's equal as soon as he got the chance. And Yes! I would like to see Ferarri get knocked off stride.

It would be wonderful if BAR could do it, but I think Toyota has a better shot. I heard that their engine was kicking butt in the horsepower dept. and that last year they were fastest in a straight line.

I am just getting into f1 racing. After reading a little bit of history on it in the past decade or two, I am wondering why Honda kinda faded out of F1. In the late 80s and early 90s, they were such a force. But recently, the Bar-Honda team is like in the bottom half. I have also read that Villneuve may not continue with the Bar team after this year. I believe that will be a shame as he was a pretty good performer when he was with Williams in 96 or so.

I hope Honda does regain some of its F1 magic again. Hopefully, this year will be a breakout year and then BOOM a new Nsx comes out to celebrate it. Villneuve said that the new Honda engines do show promise, so this year looks a lot better than last year.
