Jaguar XJ220

Not sure I like it to that degree but what is most fascinating to me is that it's powered by a measly 3.5ltr V6. It's main competition was the F40, also twin turbo and although it produced less power with a V8, it was a 2.9ltr though.

Still faster than the new stuff made today...

Here it is putting a Pagani to shame...

How does it look with its headlights turned on? I've never seen it... Does it pop up? Swivel around?

And they used to tease the NSX of having a plain interior. Sheesh look at that thing...

But nevertheless I've always been a fan of this car and it still looks just as good as it did back then.

It is a creature borne of the same design ethic prevailing at the time our NSX was created. I guess quite a few of us on this site grew up seeing cars like this one as the ideal hyper-exotic. In general, new cars are angular and ungainly to my eye.
The 220 had a troubled history. One of the biggest problems was that Jag ran out of money and the planned 12-cylinder engine had to be dropped. Even with the 6, by one account I read, it was a wonderful car to take down the straights.

What a machine.

Yeah, something about those V6 powered cars...

Saw one in person a couple years back at a VIP Jag Xkr unveiling. That car is HUGE. Like MASSIVE. I didn't get to hear it but all the guys who worked at the dealership said it sounded like a tractor. I liked it when it first debuted but don't like it so much now after I saw it in person. The rear end design is neat though.

I had the opportunity to drive one I was thinking of purchasing a number of years ago. They wanted 180,000 and it had 10 miles on it! The company couldn't sell all of the cars that they produced and they stored the balance of them and sold them off to a Canadian company.

I always loved the way the car looked and thought it would be a great car to own and drive.

Boy was I wrong, to this day it is one of the worst cars I have ever driven. The car had NO torque so trying to drive with the engine below 4,000 rpm, the car would shutter horribly. The fit and finish of the car is poor and the interior looks worse in person than a Yugo. They had one that was already torn apart where one of the salesman dropped the clutch in one and the clutch exploded.

I was willing to spend almost 200K on the car and after seeing it I wouldn't take one if someone was going to give it to me. I can't even explain how poorly it drove, it was beyond belief that a company like Jaguar could produce something so bad.

I'm having deja vu................. :)

I sat in one also and the ergonomics are all wrong, for one the headliner was really a head butta:wink:

I think the fire extingusher is for the classic Jaguar electrical system
I have never seen a Jag with a trouble free electrical system.

Yeah, what were we thinking? :D Gad, that dash looks like it was made by GM, the steering wheel looks like it came off a Dodge Caravan, and--OMG--how's about those pie-pan wheels? It's still an incredible looker, probably will always be. But no surprise a 1993 Jag isn't a keeper.

the xj220 is a really nice car, its a shame that company doesnt have any description of the car in thier ebay add.

there was a factory jaguar race xj220 on ebay a few months back, but the silver one with 1300 miles would also be a very very very nice collector piece:smile:

i use to drive it on need for speed 2, oh about 12 or more years ago:biggrin:

but just like clarkson in the video my favorite car is the f40, just hands down its jaw dropping will be my first super car in my collection(if i get there in this lifetime)

f40-just awesome
f50-i would say its the most exotic car of all time
f60-would be extemely fun to drive with all the premier ferrari tech and racing expertiese behind it

great video, i cant believe ive never scene it before!

Hay live YUGO alone:mad::rolleyes::biggrin:
