Some said it could'nt be done....
Some said it should'nt be done....
Its taken almost a year since moving from Southern California to Sydney, Australia to convert my LHD NSX to RHD.
Reasons for bringing over an NSX instead of selling are many but two of the biggest were cost and selection (or lack of in Australia).
Mobility Engineering was chosen after being recommended by several automotive people here in Sydney as they have worked on several aluminum and F-cars.
The toughest part was finding LHD parts for the car. This also took the longest time, 5 months, since new parts would make the car cost too much.
A steering rack, dash, rear tail-lights and some other minor parts were needed. The steering rack was the hardest to find by far!
Most of all the other parts were able to be switched to the other side and wiring as well as some of the cooling hoses re-routed.
The firewall was the biggest concern as I did NOT want to cut into the car for a new firewall to be put in, greatly weakening the cars framework. They did an EXCELLENT job in cutting and patching holes for the firewall!!
After a LONG WAIT, my car was ready!!!! Almost one year and several thousands of dollars...it was finally ready. Since driving it, I thought I would notice a significant difference in how she handled, but I can honestly say that I dont notice ANY difference at all (except for the many potholes, scrapes up steep drives and not being able to get out of 2nd GEAR on Sydney streets, yeah, I need to head to WA!!).
The only complaint I have about the conversion is the need for new carpet as the old one doesnt cover everything, and I lost the passenger airbag due to the dash.
Now..the pics!!
