The whole thing was a scam so let me start from the beginning.

I am browsing craigslist just checking out cars and come across this add:

http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/car/411150258.html

And I have heard of scams before, but anyone that sees an NSX for 12k is going to check it out just encase it is some pissed off ex-wife that just want to sell in cheap for revenge. So I send this email to see what is going on:

Just wanted to ask if the car has a clean title? Why such a low price? And can I get the vin number to run a carfax report on it? Email me back.

I get this email back:

Hi there,

My name is Kathie Norris and this is my 1994 Acura NSX. The total price that i want for it is $12,200 and the shipping is included. The car has 71,400 miles on the odometer. It has never been wrecked or damaged.
I just moved in Glascow, Scotland and i have a new job here. I left the car in US at the shipping company and this company has an office here in Scotland. They will manage the payment and shipping for us because i am busy here with my job and i can't do it from myself.
Here is their website : www.transcargo-ltd.co.uk
If you decide to go there, call the company make the appointment and go there. If you want the car to be shipped, here are the transaction steps:
- I need your full name, shipping address and phone # so i can open a case at the company.
- Trans Cargo will then contact you with all the details about the transaction.
- You have to make a small down payment for the vehicle.
- If you will make the payment, you will receive from Trans Cargo the tracking number in the same day that you deposit the money.
- The shipping will start, you will receive the vehicle with the original docs signed by me.
- If you want to keep the car, you will pay me the remaining balance.
- If you don't want to keep it, you will contact the company, they will come in 3 days and pick up the car and give you a full refund in hand.

Thanks,
Kathie

This is when I am pretty certain it's a scam, but the NSX is my dream car, so I do some research, she doesn't have any info on me, I haven't sent any money, no harm. I also post it on this forum for kicks. I check out the link to the shipping company and google the name, there about 5 company with the same fucking name so I know it's fishy.

Website of the company: www.transcargo-ltd.co.uk

I email the company, and get this in return:

Notice the add on the bottom of the email about the free email account? What fucking company does that?

So I copy the entire add and google it:

Wow, over 10 different craigslist listings in different cities for the same car, most of them flagged. So I email her back with this.

I have a few question I need answered about this vehicle that freight company can't answer:

What is the vin number so I can run a carfax report?
Where was this car driven and dropped off at?
Where is it currently being stored so I can arrange a pre-purchase inspection?
Where is the car registered?
Who was the primary driver?
Do you have any more pictures of the car? Specifically Interior shots.
Do you have maintenance records for the vehicle?
How will the money be transferred?

I am really anxious to hear more about this vehicle. Depending on the answers you provide, I am planning on applying for the auto loan tomorrow. The NSX is my dream car and I would love to make a deal with you soon!

Thank you for your time.
I hate when things are too good to be true, but at least I can drag this out and get the persons hopes up. Anyone have ideas of what I can do with these people besides spamming their email account with porn?

"And I have heard of scams before, but anyone that sees an NSX for 12k is going to check it out just encase it is some pissed off ex-wife that just want to sell in cheap for revenge. So I send this email to see what is going on"

Sorry if this may come out as a bit harsh but there is NO such thing as a $12,000 NSX that is clean (Never has and never will be). Even if the NSX was in a major collision $12,000 is under priced even as a parts car.

You are doing nothing more than wasting your time and ecouraging these scammers. If NSX shoppers even consider this ordeal could be legit it scares me to death what must happen to accord and camry buyers in these situations fairly often.

Why would you sell a car for 1/3 what it is worth? Do you honestly think someone who has a car like an NSX doesn't know what it's worth?

A) They either bought it brand new for 70k$
B) They bought it used and paid $$$ for the car.

Why would they sell it for 1/3 it's value?

This is extremely frustrating to me-please don't waste your time further with these kinds of 'deals". I get 1-2 a week exactly like this looking at potential deals online.

By the way, do you think a divorced lady trying to suck every cent from her husband is going to sell a car 20 grand less than it's worth? The fear of losing out of a good deal overwhelms the fear of going completely bust.

There is a website devoted to scamming the scammers...

http://www.419eater.com/

My favorite is the picture of the Nigerian holding up a sign (the Baiter told him to send a pic so that he knew he was a good, honest Christian) that says, "I am a member of the Boston Red Sox Church of God".

Also notice that the site of said "shipping company" doesnt work:

http://www.transcargo-ltd.co.uk/tracking.htm

Type in anything and hit track... 404 (File not found)... And the template they used for the site is one that anyone can put online in a matter of minutes...

You know if you want to play with these absolute scum of the earth, criminals, then have at it. But please avoid the language- this is not the Hummer site (no offense intended to Hummer owners:smile: )

I've requested several attempts for a copy of the "clear title" as per credit union requirement with no luck other than the original description.
