Tonight my sweety took me out for a early Valentines Day dinner. We went to an Italian restaurant called Arcodoro. Now I am very hard to impress when it comes to Italian food. The best Ive ever had was in NY in little Italy - YUM!!!! But tonight was by far superior. This restaurant specialized in Sardinian Italian food. UNBELIEVABLE!!!!! Hands down the best I have ever had. The portions were way above average and the service was above par as well. I had jumbo shrimp wrapped in pasta and lightly fried with pan seared scallops atop a bed of rissoto and arugala (sp?) Acompanied with a great chiante. The appetizer was a 1/2 dozen oysters drizzled with blood orange and olive oil sauce. My babes had a linguini with clams and pesto sauce with a glass of Pinot Grigio. A huge piece of cheesecake with strawberry puree was our desert. We finished the night with a nice capuccino. Surprisingly the bill came out to be $120. Not bad for a meal of this quality and excellent service not to mention a very inviting setting. Yeah, my baby did good this year!!!

The original Iron Chef or Iron Chef America ?

I dislike the new Iron Chef of America. It's a bit hokey, and I really don't like Bobby Flay, ever since he threw his cutting board and jumped on top of the kitchen counter in an Iron Chef battle against Morimoto.

Other than Bobby Flay, I guess I would be able to stomach the new Iron Chef (pun intended), but it's in no way as good as the original.

Italiano... Iron Chef Style!

hmmm... The original series rules! That nuovo' version bites!

Chef Sakai (Iron Chef French is my personal fav'), however this was interesting about Iron Chef Italian (to stay on topic!):

The chef on the far left of the above picture in the red and green is Masahiko Kobe, the Iron Chef Italian. Kobe is the youngest of the Iron Chefs. He owns a restaurant in Tokyo called Ristorante Massa. Kobe is generally only called upon for special battles if specifically requested by a challenger. He rises separately from the other Iron Chefs, to the accompaniment of a string orchestra. For more information about Iron Chef Kobe, visit IronChef.com.
