Is there (significant) water in my fuel?

I'm trying to determine if there is significant water in my fuel...
Here's the story: I had a 50-gallon barrel of 100 octane outside. It was double capped, underneath roof covering, and for the most part covered over with a tarp.

Nonetheless, I didn't do much with it for about a year. Throughout this time, the Seattle monsoons beat over it and at various times, there was water on the barrel itself that sat for.. a few days, maybe weeks. Cleaned it off when I noticed it, but now I'm not sure if I have water crept through.

The gasoline distributor said that water will separate from gas and it should be very distinct.... You can see that the top line is much darker than the rest, but.. I'm not sure. Attached are pictures.

Water is heavier than gasoline. Are you thinking that's mostly water, with a little gas on top? Color seems too uniform.

That's my question. Is it mostlywater with gas on top, or is that just how gasoline is...?

I guess I can try and get normal jug of gas and compare; that makes too much sense..

+1. Anyone here a fuel expert..? Can some of the senior mechanical guys comment here, Larry? I put some of this in my Civic and I want to avoid draining the fuel tank if I don't really have to...

Thanks.

I deal a lot with diesel fuel which seems to get water in it when its stored.
Those pics to me there is water in the fuel. The 2nd pic there is a line in the jug water/fuel. If that was diesel to put in my Kenworth I would not do it.

Thanks.. You are right, there is :( I showed the gasoline supplier I get it from and he confirmed the bad news.

The really bad news is that although I dind't put it in the NSX, I put it my DD Civic!!! Now I need to drain it out somehow!! AGHH..
