Is the HKS CAMP worth buying?

I just purchased the M760 monitor / display pod for my car and looking for stuff to display! I am working on buying the Alpine NAV, and...

I am curious if the CAMP system is any good, or if it is just a wow-factor that lasts for a day or two.

If you have seen it or own it, you opinion is greatly appreciated. I am looking for your personal feedback.

Bill, MYNSX, has it on his car with the whole Navigation and Display Pod from S.O.S.
I've seen him playing with it before, looks kinda cool, but like you said, maybe its only cool for a little bit or to play with every once in a while. Unless of course you are really into paying attention to all that info (track drivers maybe?).
Anyway, its not that expensive if you got some cash to blow I guess....

I use my Alpine monitor for my PS2!

I have the HKS CAMP but I could net get the Alpine screen to activate. It says "off for my safety" or something like that.

I think it has something to do with the fact that the parking brake and foot brake wires are not connected, but that would make the unit only work with the parking brake and foor brake activated. That seems to defeat the purpose.

You may want to contact Andy Buzz @ Buzzoff Car Audio in Tampa. When I had my audio/video system installed, they got around that very problem for me. http://www.buzz-off.com/about_us.html
Try this.

There has to be a way around this... NAV systems use the monitor in motion.

The Nav has a different input and will allow the monitor to function. The aux inputs wont work.

you can bypass the safety function
any good installer can do this.
my nav had the feature that restricted input while the car was moving, and the dvd would not play either. he bypassed both features. obviously not to his recommendation. ;^)

Yeah, but how do I do it? I did the install already. Navi works great but I can't get the screen to accept aux inputs. Anyone know the trick?

You have to connect the parking & brake wires to +12v. For off-road use only.
