I have the new bolts and figure 8 - O ring however, should I use a sealer where the base fits against the block? Also is there a reason to remove and check the OEM oil cooler while it is all off the car? Appreciate any assistance. Cheers TYSAMA
Re: IS HONDA BOND required when refitting oil filter base?
No Hondabond needed. The only place that gets sealant is the bolts. Since you got new ones, the sealant is on the new ends already. For future reference , you can use Hondabond on the original bolts, and reuse them.
Re: IS HONDA BOND required when refitting oil filter base?
Thanks for the quick response LarryB. I really appreciate it. If your still there do you have an answer to my second question regarding the OEM oil cooler?
Re: IS HONDA BOND required when refitting oil filter base?
The oil cooler is not a maintenance item and I've never read or heard of any issues with it, but the hoses that attach to it are. You can reuse the clamps, but I'd replace the hoses.
Thanks for the advice on the cooler and the tip pgilliam1. I will now leave the oil cooler & oil filter base intact. I have already taken the lead after searching the Forum and changed all the hoses --- these were my last two. I must say "THIS FORUM IS FANTASTIC FOR THE HELP THAT IS SO WILLINGLY GIVEN" Cheers, TYSAMA.
