Is a Climate Control Garage a Must and Worth It?

Tell me your experiences. I live in Denver, Colorado and am considering installing a heated garage. If anyone has one installed for quite a number of years, share the knowledge. I currently have two cars, but I have been taking very good care of them. I wonder if installing a climate control garage will be worth it, considering the amount of money one has to wax, apply paint sealant, and wash a car on a bi-weekly basis? Let me know guys, all your opinions, experiences, and knowledge are greatly appreciated. Thanks and have not a great day, but one of the best days!!

A few things to consider:

1. For washing, that means that you're going to need to install a floor drain, and I'm sure there are other considerations as far as preventing items other than the car being worked on from getting wet.

2. Do you do a lot of mechanical work on your car, year 'round? That could increase your need for a C/C garage.

3. Is all of this for an NSX which doesn't go anywere in cold weather anyway, or for additional cars that are driven year 'round?

I wanted to have a good place to detail my cars, but I don't do much mechanical work. I have an unheated garage where I store my cars. I built a patio on the side of my yard with a gate in the fence and a faucet on that side of the house, and I use that outdoor area for detailing.

i have 2 1/2 tons of ac/heat in my garage and it is great!! i don't know if it really helps the condition of the car/paint or not but it sure is great when it is wax/detail time and it is 100 degrees outside. also, the humidity is much lower.

Climate control garages are a MUST out here in S. Cali.

Oh come on! You know I had to brag! Even just a little.

Funny - like Ton, I relate to the concept of a "climate controlled garage" as one with heat. If I lived in a hot, muggy climate like Georgia, I'm sure I would be worrying about air conditioning. Here, that's not a concern at all.

OK, this doesn't actually answer your question about climate control (I was dissuaded about running ductwork into my garage when my place was being built because the builder said it breached the firewall). I now use a ceramic heater in the winter.

What I can recommend is Rustoleum's expoxy garage floor paint kit. Get this stuff. I painted my garage floor a few weeks ago and it looks so cool--blue with those little paint chips.

It costs $78 a year to register an NSX in Illinois. How much does it cost in California, again?

Do they have paved roads in illinois?
