Is 91 octane the best we've got out here?

Besides race gas, does anyone know of a gas station in the phoenix metro area that pumps anything better than 91 octane?

Are you having a problem with pre-detination?

NOTE: (You may already know this, but for those who don't) If you are already using the proper octane fuel, you will not obtain more power from higher octane fuels. The engine will be already operating at optimum settings, and a higher octane should have no effect on the management system. Your driveability and fuel economy will remain the same. The higher octane fuel costs more, so you are just throwing money away. If you are already using a fuel with an octane rating slightly below the optimum, then using a higher octane fuel will cause the engine management system to move to the optimum settings, possibly resulting in both increased power and improved fuel economy. You may be able to change octanes between seasons ( reduce octane in winter ) to obtain the most cost-effective fuel without loss of driveability.

76 I guess might still have the higher grades at the pump but I don't know. The information I found is a couple years old like from 2004. It seemed that 76 was selling 100 octane at the pumps. There is ONE place I've read about on msn that sells high octane at the pump. Real small joint that doesn't make much money on the fuel but rather profits from the detailing business that they run also at the same place. It's located someplace in so cal. I want to say newport beach but not sure.

HOWEVER at my local 76, I did see a sticker that says 92 octane on just ONE pump at the very end...... The gas station attendant didn't know much about it....

It's for the Supra. They recommend 93 octane, but say it's okay to use gas with as low as 91 octane if that's all that's available.

One option is to contact Sunoco who is a supplier of race fuels throughout the US.
They have 1 shop here in Auburn (Seattle area) not too far from Bellevue. I ordered a 55-gallon barrel of 101 Octane for $6.00 / gallon which I use to mix 92 with for some added safety given that I'm running High Boost and I feel it's a good use/wast of money :)

Contact these guys to get a California distributor.

I sometimes fill up with 101 octane VP Racing fuel at The Zone, it's on the north/west corner of 44th st. and Chandler Blvd. in Awatukee. $5.99 gal. I think a lot of people going to Firebird go to The Zone for Racing fuel. Also, last August and then recently in December I filled up with the usual premium unleaded at the Brown & Gilbert Rd. Chevron in Mesa, it must have been bad gas or regular, but it sure fouled up my engine performance. Both times Redline really helped my engine to recover. I don't know what's up with the premium unleaded gas???

I know the 76 station mentioned in Newport Beach is pretty expensive at about $6.99/gal. There is another 76 in Anaheim off of the 91 and Brookhurst that sells 100 octane for $4.99/gal. Good stuff. You can go to the 76 union web site and there is a link to where they sell racing fuel

There is? Where? I was just looking at their website yesterday, and I see where you can find their gas stations (here), but not where you can find ones that sell racing fuel.

here in So Cal, you can find 100 octane(maybe 101) at the 76 in Agoura Hills right off the 101 Southbound on Chesebro exit. its about 5.99/gal.
