I was thinking about getting my dad and I tickets to an IRL event for Father's Day. There is a race in Kansas City on July 3rd and I was just wondering what people's experience was at such events. The last time I was at something like this was the Indy time trials.... and I was about 6 years old, so I hated all the noise. My interest in the NSX has sparked my interest in racing (I still don't like Nascar, but the Indy cars fascinate me). Also, when attending these events, where is the best place to sit. Based on what I've read, it seems like you're better off being a bit off the track, vs. having seats near the front row.

IRL = NASCAR they both suck. Take him to a Vintage, ALMS, or a Champcar race instead. Hell even a club event (P-car, Ferrari Challenge, SVRA, VSCDA etc) is better than an IRL event.
