IRL / Honda St. Pete Grand Prix S2000 Parade Lap

Awesome pics, looks like a fun time. I read Michael but thought Mario and I was looking for him and I was like, where is he? But anyway, cool pics. My dad and I got to take a lap around the Indianapolis Motor Speedway a while back, we couldn't go fast, but it was a cool experience to say the least

Yeah grandpa was in the pit crew area but not in the parade. It looked like most of Marco's immediate family were there to celebrate his inagural race (he won it too) Infinit Pro Series. It was a day I will never forget.

I spent all day Saturday at the races (and I have the wicked sunburn to prove it!). There were a few noteable moments that pertain to this forum.

1) Some guy walked by wearing a white Dali racing T-shirt
2) An older red NSX drove by me as I was walking through the SPEED channel touring car paddock area.
3) A yellow 2005 NSX parked in the very BACK CORNER of the Honda tent. Oh, what a travesty of justice... it was like the neglected stepchild of the display. It's a RACE event people, and this is Honda's high-end sports car... At the very least they could have placed it next to the S2000 in front.
4) A purple/maroon NSX with body kit shown at the Makes&Models magazine display.

Did anyone else think it was fishy that very few Honda vehicles were used as event cars? I would have thought that they would at least have had an NSX as the pace car since Honda was the title sponsor!!! Instead they used a (IMO) Chevy SSR. And they could've used the new Honda pickup as the safety vehicles instead of the Chevy pickups. At the CHAMP series race 2 years ago at St. Pete they at least had a NSX circling the track as one of the spectator ride along vehicles.

On the fun side while in the paddocks I noticed some race fans walking away with race-damaged body parts, brakes, wheels, etc. I really would have liked a used bumper off of one of the Realtime Racing cars (their TSXs placed 3rd and 4th!) but someone beat me to it. I did get as a souvenir a cracked projector headlamp from one of the Mazda touring cars though.
