Intermediate shaft bearing replacement question

Hi all,

I noticed while I had my intermediate shaft out that the bearing is bad (has a stick/notchy spot in it when I rotate it). Is it necessary to press the bearing or is this something I can do at home without a press?

You need a press.

A press is highly recommended.

However, the shade tree mechanic in me has used a brass punch on the inner race of such things to pound it on and off.
