interior of accordian intake boot white flakes

I was checking my air filter yesterday and I noticed that the accordian intake boot was white and flakey inside. My car is a '94 and I guess the rubber is getting old. My question is, will this small amount of flakes being sucked into the engine affect it in any way?

I beleive this is some kind of releasing agent from when the boot was molded. All of them seem to have it, never have had a problem.

if you can take it off and wash it off... nothing being sucked into the motor other than air and fuel is good for it... if your lucky it will be small enough peice to not get stuck in the valve seats and cause problems w/ compression.
