Two of the reviews are from 1994, one is from 1996, and one is from 2002: these are not complaints from "when the 1991 model debuted". There's one link to a 1991 review from which he picks a quote about the bodywork being so-so, but that review is positive overall.

I’ve owned both and said this from the start... both generations have a very similar feel.
