Has anyone participated in a Drifting School? I've been thinking of attending on of the Drift day class and I wanted some info. Check out www.drifting.com. Drift day #8 is going to be on October 18. Looks like fun:) For those that have attended these events, what type of instructions do you get and how much track time do you get. Do they separate class in beginner, intermediate, and advance like other track events? How much tyre wear do you go through?

I love drifting too. I went to widing road to practice it sometimes, but haven't had a chance to go to class. track time? track time is no important, depends on what kind of drifting you using. drifting won't make the track time any faster especially when you try to make your drifting looks more fantacy or crazy.

seting your car to be easier to drift is another work to do. for biginer, you can put different tire in the front and rear. ( better tire in the front ) for example, HR in the front, ZR in the rear. BUT!!!!!! don't use too much different tires. like P zero in the front, and P 7000 in the rear. it's very dangerious!!!!!!!!

I have more information about setting a drift car. but..i got to go to have lunch right now...i'll post it later....^_^

drifting

hi5417,
Are you actually drifting the X or using some other rw vehicle?
If you are using your X how does it drift? is it a easy car to set up for the turns. It seems that drifting put a mechanical stress on the car, I don't think that locking the clutch and so forth is all that good for the X, but I would sure like to take a class on drifting.

**** please note, all this drifting setup i post here is for biginer only ****

yeah, i use my nsx to drift, but i am still new in MR drift style. FR is much easier because the rear is lighter makes the rear tire easier to slide. I had a all stock E36 M3, and It took me very short time to get used to it. but, NSX's rear is much heavier than the front; if you want to drift, you have to have higher speed to drift into courner.

don't turn off the TCS when you are not familier with drifting. TCS can help you when you really lost control.

Mechanical stress!! sure, if you drive fast, no matter if you drift or not, merchanical stress will be high. You can try to mod the Anti-Sway Bars, Tower Brace Bar, to reinforce the chassis.

but, i believe the NSX is designed for race track, it should be pretty reliable.

i forgot to tell you the tire setup, you may want to set up with 225 in the front( 28psi ), and 245/255 in the rear ( 38 psi ).

the tire I had now ( 215, 275 ) makes me feel nervous. I have to have much higher speed to make drift. AND the front tire silde earlier than the rear tire, i got to use e-brake sometimes. ( under steering )

I am going to change it to 225, 245 too, but...i am a lttle out of money. ^_^ .because of those pending mods.
( i am still a student, can't afford too many mods .....*_* )
