NSX owners,

We wanted to get your take on a new product that we have been doing R&D for the Type-S owners since apparently at some point in the build numbers, Acura decided to substitute the Carbon Fiber hood as shown below on our Type-S for an Alcantara model. Not sure the reasons why this was done but now suddenly Type-S owners who opted for the Lightweight package which should have gotten the CF hood is not getting them anymore.

We already have a list of of pre-orders for them but wanted to extend this offer to all NC1 owners.

thank you so much for your feedback! Sorry that photo was merely for demo purposes, we will be swapping the Gloss wheel out for a MATTE cf wheel shortly, the picture was just to depict the OEM hood.

You bring up a good point, we offer all of our CF parts in your choice of Gloss or Matte since every owner has a preference. As you know most the OEM Acura exterior CF parts are gloss. There is no right or wrong answer.


When the OEM CF hood is finished customer's will the option to get in MATTE or Gloss. Also in many high end cars, it's common to find both gloss and matte finish parts in the same car. Take the Audi R8 for example. There is a CF part that actually changes from Gloss (around the radio) to MATTE as it reaches the steering column to reduce glare.

The product is in R&D right now and we have not determined a MSRP yet. However we have a pre-order interest list and have about 20 people on the list for the product already.

This will be a full carbon fiber replacement just like the factory piece. Unlike the factory piece we will offer this piece in BOTH Matte CF or Gloss CF by owner's choice to match the car since the OEM Engine bay is Gloss, Roof is Gloss, etc.

Just got back from NSXPO in Arizona and wanted to give an update on this project as we had a lot of Type-S and NC1 owners asking about this part. Currently it's in R&D and we have a list of all pre-paid orders.

Stay tuned as we update with photos but this will be a direct swap full carbon fiber piece finished in MATTE carbon fiber. Gloss is available but we don't advise due to sun glare.
