Intake Modification

I am trying to find information about an NSX intake modification I came upon some time ago while surfing the net.

I may not have this entirely right but it talked about removing everything from the intake manifold concerning the dual flow system. Machining the inside housing smooth with no flow obstructions. I thought they stated that it did not affect the idling and gave a good HP increase.

I failed to mark the web page and cannot find it again.

Many thanks to anyone who can point me to this site again.

Are talking about removing the " butterfly plates" (not sure of the correct name) from the intake manifold. If so that would be a bad idea, you would lose all of your low end power.

In the article they did remove the "butterfly valves" .

But stated that it did not hurt the idle or power. They thought that the system may have been designed for emissions reasons not performance.

Part of the reason I want to find the site again is to see exactly what they did and how it changed engine performance.

It was more than the extrude honing talked about on some sites.

Thanks

When I owned a Legend some of the owners tried to do something similar. Many of the other Honda Acura cars like the Legend use a very similar VIS (Variable Induction System) intake. What owners did was to trick the control solenoids to stay open and what they found was loss of low end.

SoS just announced a replacement plate to get rid of VVIS... A couple people have disabled it (forced the butterfly plates to always be open) on a N/A NSX and didn't feel any seat-of-the-pants loss on the low end. In theory I can see how removing it could give you better flow for high-end, but again it would be nice to see a before/after dyno to actually measure any top-end gain or low-end losses.
