Sup everyone. . .

I'm new to the board and would just like to say this is a superb site for all NSX fans.

I'm looking into getting a new car and have narrowed my choices down to either a BMW M3 or the NSX. In tryin to find the pros and cons of each, I was wondering what you guys pay for insurance? (I'm 23 with 0 points) I'm aware that answers will vary, but I just want to get a general figure. Thanks.

I think that you will find an M3 (E36 I assume) will have fairly similar insurance costs as an NSX (91-94) if the other characteristics, i.e. driver age and history, area, insurance company and coverage level, are the same.

A significant factor will be whether the car is your sole automobile, or whether you have a daily driver. If it is a second car, the rates are considerably lower. A homeowner's insurance policy with the same company will usually also get you a discount.

Being under the age of 25 is also a problem as it increases your rates over someone older. I am 26 and have a few speeding tickets that are 2-3 years old. I am paying $1200 a year for my E36 325 daily driver, and have been quoted $850 for the same coverage on a $32k NSX as a second car, which will also drop the BMW about $100/year with the multi-vehicle discount. $850 is as good as I could find, others wanted around $1200.

I did some price quotes for myself (24 with 0 points) here in Tucson and it was $2400 per year on a 92 NSX. It will, of course, depend on what you want as far as deductables, liability, etc. I would suggest calling your insurance company and getting a quote directly from them. As far as the choice between the M3 and NSX, I would say NSX! :D

Who is your insurance with in ny....thats a pretty good price for a 03 in Brooklyn.

I pay about 3700/yr for my 91nsx/02TL type-S in the Bronx

when I had my 1998 NSX-T I was paying for following:

unlimited Mileage/yr, full coverage, $300 deductible...
for $112/month...

I am 28 with no points or accidents..

THis is through Farmer insurance..

I think the Zip code you live at makes a big difference.. I live in Saratoga, CA.. good area :)

The insurance costs will vary widely, based on several factors such as location, daily driver vs. second car, etc. Having said this, my 92 is my second car and therefore not my daily driver. I have it insured for $35K stated value with State Farm with 250K/500K/250K coverage, $500 deductible and pay $199 every 6 months. I'm 37 with no points on my record and live in Tulsa, OK (not quite the premiums that many of the owners on the coasts pay). State Farm has a classic / exotic program that required me to show my NSXCA membership card, indicate that it's not my daily driver, have it garaged with a home alarm and use it for club events a certian portion of the time. However, the policy does not have a specific mileage limitation. I found in my experience that several of the more popular classic and / or exotic insurance companies wouldn't insure my NSX, but in the end, State Farm had the best deal of all and my agent is also one of my old college buddies, so I know I'll be taken care of if there is a problem. Hope this helps.

Again??? Doesn't anybody around here ever think to click on that word near the top of the page, the one that says "search"???

I pay $439 for 6 mos. with the BMW and the condo. Not bad for 26 and a few tickets still on the DL. (That's driver's license, not down low . . . ;) )

I pay $342 per 6 months. I'm single, 33, third car (not my primary car), zero points, Antelope, CA, Geico.
