Does any chip like the RM, Dali, etc still have to be sent off an dhave the ECU ZIFF socketed by SoS beforei can install it?

I bought a RM Chip but i dont know what needs to happen to install it. It didnt come with any instructions and all searches i've found yeilded no results.

Thanks for your help.

The ECU ZIFF socket should be installed, so replacement is a plug in. You want to save the original chip so you can swap them out. This means the person/company removing the original chip must know what they are doing and how to use proper desoldering equipment.

If you have that skill and equipment, then it does not have to go anywhere:). Also if you have a local electronics store/repair shop, they should be able to do it. Just make sure they really can do it and will gaurantee NOT to ruin your ECU PC board.

Okay, but its basically comprable to "burning" a chip for any other honda. My local tuning shop that does all of my work chips every other honda in exsistence, so i figured it might be a similar procedure. hes really good with micro soldering as well.

Thanks for the info! I hope to get some definative dyno charts for you guys on gains.

I would recommend installing a ZIF socket. If you have someone that can do soldering, we can sell you just the chip if you need. We offer the whole service, including chip, for only $80.00 which is pretty reasonable considering.

By the way, we've dyno tested the RM (Dinan) chip in the past, and it produced less horsepower than the factory chip and 20+ lb/ft less than the ScienceofSpeed SuperTune ECU.

take care,
