inspecting REAR inner brake pads

Hi -- I was checking my car as part of pre-track prep, and wanted to check my rear brakes.

Jacked the car up and took the wheel off...

The outer pads look fine, but I can't see the inner ones (on back side of rotor). My experience is that, due to the sliding caliper design of the OEM NSX rear caliper, the inner pad wears out faster.

I checked the FAQ, and the instructions don't quite tell me enough --> http://www.nsxprime.com/FAQ/DIY/brakepads.htm

Note: I am running the stock rear caliper on a larger (13") rotor, as part of the AP Racing BBK.

Is there a way to easily check the inner pad thickness on the rear brakes ? (short of taking the pads out)

Thanks in advance.

tips from the pros

suggested a dentist mirror or similar... inner rear pads might be best inspected from BELOW.

I'll try this in the privacy of my garage this weekend... using a "manly" makeup compact :)

Thanks, NSX guru!!! (9999 and counting)

A leading local NSX tech just told me that only REAL way to check the inner rear pads on the OE caliper is to remove them and visually inspect them:
- the "clip" (low warning) covers some of what-little-may-be-visible of the pad
- without taking out the pad, you could miss potential uneven wear/tapering, which could lead to premature pad failure
