hey friends...hopefully someone can help me out with my problem.today i came home and when i tried to get out of my car(91) the door release handle almost came right out and i couldn't open the door from the inside.i guess something popped off or broke in the door.i was looking to maybe take the door panel off but i'm not sure if that is a DIY type of thing.so my question is...is it hard to take the door panel off and maybe fix the door my self or is a trip to my acura dealer looming....any help would be great...thanks...

Its either the hinge part or the handle itself that broke. Hinges seems to go on the earlier years, and handles on most any year.

I had the handle break. Acura only sells the entire assembly, not just the handle. That assembly is a major hurt on the wallet.

I got a used handle from Umbrella Designs, and meanwhile tried to glue the old one back together. Superglue did not work. Even the vibration/impact resistanct kind came apart after about 3 pulls. I'm going to try to remove the superglue (using acetone or superglue remover, which is mostly acetone) and use a solvent type glue as someone suggested (the type used for plexiglass or PVC pipe). I'll let you know how that goes.

Meanwhile, in case I break the used replacement, I purchased a set of black anodized billet aluminum handles from SOS. The SOS handles look good although they are just a bit shinier than the OEMs. (I prefer to keep my interior looking all stock , and hence did not go for the gunmetal, etc, colored versions.)

As a side note, I found a source for the little screws that hold the handle to the hinge. I had to buy a pack of 50, so PM me if you need any.
