not really that bad
your evaporator is still in there
also how did you clear getting the dash out with the wheel up? or did you lower it and then raise it once the dash was out. just curious

Looks like what I saw when the Acura dealer repaired my A/C. I looked out in the bay and said "HOLY S$#@ is that my CAR!

rare conversion!!!

I think the car is going to look great. I've only seen a few convertible nsx's, and the all look good. Probably the coolest one being ice-t's. I was curious as to how much the conversion costs. I remember reading about a company that charged 15g's for their conversion. Was yours around this amount?

No offense, but ICE-T's NSX looked just plain silly the last time I saw it. His NSX looked confused as if it had lost its purpose on the street. I'm hoping to create a NSX convertable with the original intent of the NSX being left intact. Track reliability. If my car is to be compared to his, I'll just give up now.

Most know that the convertable conversion has been done for a while. The car is in the shop for a stereo install. Needless to say stealth is out the window on my car due to the fact that everyone is going to stare anyhow due to it being a convertable. Right now we are trying to decide how rediculous to get with this thing. My intent is to have a show vehicle that can still handle the track with some level of practicality. My goal is to attend NSXPO and be able to track at Watkins Glen withth enough sound and flash to BLVD. PIMP on my way to a HIN event win.

I will take pictues as we go. They will probably not be for the weak of heart as NSX purists will surely freak. Ken is probably shaking his head as he reads this.:D (And I know you are!)

On a side note, does anyone have any suggestions on what the best paint or version of black should be used on the final body?

WOW!!!
What the heck are you doing to that poor thing?
I thought my car was tore up, at least I might get a chance to drive mine this year. Your's looks like its down for the count.
Did you report your car stollen?
Give us a hint of what's going in there. :D

Cool you are going for show and go. As for paint, do you want to stay black? Since this thing will also be for show I think you should go for something a little brighter but not to wild. My suggestions would be factory paint like the lamborghini yellow or orange multi stage paint. Have you seen these colors, they look great in person? The lambo turquoise on the merceilago se is also pretty unique. Also what components are you looking to install for your stereo system?

What have you done to stiffen/strengthen the body for flex, or worse, collision? I'd hate to think what would happen in the event of a head-on impact.

Me too. Unfortunately I rarely ever get to drive the car. Having insurance is mostly pointless. So from a 'hours behind the wheel' point of view there is little to worry about as far as collisions go. That does not change the fact that I know what will happen if I or another makes a mistake while the top is off. Obviously I do not street race.

As for stiffining, there is an aluminum hour-glass shaped crossbeam. Un fortunately this is not enough for the job. Racing grade sway bars have been added, and a Kure rear strut tower bar with 4 attachment points is on the way. Non compliance rear beam bushings and titanium toe links help to dial in a stiffer turning ability. Over time I'm sure I'll add in more (please donate type R parts :D) to compensate for the lack of a roof.

Is it a PITA? Yes. Is it worth it? Hmmmm...? Is it fun to drive? When I get to drive it! Do I like it? I dream/have nighmares about it.

To quote Ministry, "It's a love affair. Mainly Jesus and my hotrod."

Well, after my shop sat on it for the entire summer, I finally got them to take it seriously. The car is still in the shop. A lot of custom fiberglass work has occured and the car is still inside out. Some custom apholstery is needed next to cover the new sub box. The car is definately leaning towards show right now. Warning: purists will absolutely hate it. (Like having a convertible doesn't earn me enough smack talk. )

Major surgery is always sooo messy!
You mentioned tracking the car. Will you use a roll bar to help stiffen the chassie?
Earlier you asked for paint suggestions. If you are looking for a great finish plus very high durability, check Awlgrip. It is a 2 part polyurithane. I found it to be extremly tough as well as producing a very fine finish.
I wish you the best of luck with the project and I think a convertable is a great idea!

Juice....you mean you did not smack them down for sitting on the car all summer??? I would have been on the edge of hurting someone.

I've said plenty to them. I almost pulled my car out three differrent times and most likely should have, but it's hard to retrieve your car when every last piece of it is strewn across a very large garage.

Show up unannounced with a well dressed professional. You walk in explaining to this person the story while they are taking pictures of everything. Make sure at least several times they say something like 'Yes, we should have plenty of evidence to force a successful resolution'. If anyone asks what you are doing, answer that you 'just would feel more comfortable with everything documented'.
