Ingition And Key Turning Problems

I am having problems with turing my key so i can start the car and i think i need the whole part that the key goes in with a new key? The car doesnt have problems starting, just cant turn the darn key sometimes without fittlen with the key back and forth, and its not cuase the key is warn out.. =o(

William,

This can be a few things.

1. Steering wheel locked into position from the last time you stopped, putting pressure on the wheel lock.

2. The other thing you can try, beleive it or not is to spray a little WD40 on the key and work it a little. I have not really seen this on the NSX, but Porsche's are notorious for this problem. Give it a try.

I'll bet it's number 1. Particularly if you park your car in a way or place that requires you to turn the wheel as (or after) you turn the car off. If you straighten the car out and then turn the car off, you won't lock the wheel and won't create the pressure that Larry mentions.

Ok guys this isnt the first time i have owned a car, and know about the locking wheel......HEHE LOL
I havent done the wd-40 but im about to and thanks for all your help.

Acually the wheel turns with no problem and its not lock, the key just wont turn left or right without messing with it a lot. After about 10 min of messing with it, it will finally go and turn so i can start the car.

I'm experiencing the same problem, but it only happens when I'm at the track. I think I'm pressing the key inward as I turn it due to my sitting position or slightly pull it outward as I turn it.
It doesn't happen during normal street driving. My dealer inspected the ignition
switch and fond it was ok. It's just one of those things...weird

Thanks guys for all your help, but its the whole switch. I tried just about everything and nothing worked.

Anyone know of a person that is parting there nsx out, and maybe have one?

Well after about 3 hours its working just great now, but for how long.. LOL

Took the whole thing apart cleaned it out lubed the whole inners with graphite and now works just like a new one. Hope its a perm fix and not just a temp.
