another possibility on the next generation NSX. The drawing look great! One of the best ones yet, and talk about several engine choices. A cheaper NSX with a i-vtec V-6 and going up to more powerful V-8's. I particulary like the talk of a S2000 powered by the same i-vtec 6 cylinder. That would definately solve the torque problem that has plagued the car since it's introduction.

whats this monkey bullsheot about:

"[the nsx] cannot fail in the market for the second time."

I hardly see the NSX as a failure... more like an unequivocal champion in my eyes...

If the new NSX were to share the same engine with the S2000 (saying the i-VTEC V6), the s2000 would be considerably faster than the NSX. At a cost of 32K for the S2000, I doubt they would do this. The "lower" powered NSX would never sell.

Make no mistake about it the NSX was a huge business failure for Honda, you can put whatever spin on it as you want but the fact is it did not make a profit, infact over 10 years it's still in the losses.
You, me and every other NSX owner might not like that fact, but who cares we have one of the best engineered sports cars ever and lets enjoy that and be happy Honda subsidized our enjoyment.

All that info is speculation but if some of the rumours we have been hearing is true then it makes sense at least anyway. A cheaper NSX is supposed to be on the way. Also Honda is one of the only automotive companies not involved in a bigger orginization (for now) and if your familiar with the industry then parts sharing is an essential process to keep competetive. That is why it makes perfect sense that the S2000 and NSX will share a motor, even though, hp or displacement may vary. Your complaining about that, but nobody is complaining that the NSX is also supposed to share basic V-8 architecture with two other Acura cars. I don't think either motor will be negative on the NSX but rather more positive on the other Honda family of cars.
I love my NSX becouse of the car, not the fact that it is a exotic image piece. If the new NSX looks as good or better, has better performance and is cheaper then all the better. Remember with all the parts sharing this creates a bigger performance aftermarket for us. No more 10,000 superchargers!!!
My 2 cents, take it how you want.

You would think C&D would know better, however, the other three most popular car magazines - Road and Track, Automobile, Motor Trend - all report something different for the new NSX. No two magazines have actually reported the same engine! Guess we will have to wait and see.

No that is no proof at all? Read 10 different magazines and get 10 different stories, go see Automobile this month and their cover car is a 2002 NSX with a ivtec v-6 with 350hp. Two informative competetive magazines with completely different "inside" information. EVERYTHING you hear is speculation, mind you there very well may be truth to some or all of the stories, but how do any of us know what actual facts are in there? All we can do is decipher all the information we hear and use some common sense to get an indication and even then we can be far off, never know NSX could get discontinued forever, or for a while???

No.

And accompanying the stories with photos created on Photoshop from current models hardly inspires confidence in their reliability.

Until the day we can actually drive down to the local dealer and put our money down on one of these beauties we won't know what they will look like or what flavor engine it will have on it.

Every magazine out there will have their photoshop kid put some twist on available pics and some will do it better than others tyring to come closer to what the final car actually turns out to be. Also while they are at it, why not confuse us by talking about anything from a 2.0 liter inline 4 high mileage motor all the way up to a full out race V10 with 70 valves and a gazillion horses

Two things are sure, 1. the car will look similar to the current model (I am sure they didn't consider a VW bug look-alike for a replacement) and 2. it will have a Vtec engine in it.

Anyone that tells you different is just trying to sell you something (like a magazine perhaps)

my 2 cents

Just a quick note, I was talking to my nsx tech at the shop yesterday and he just got back from NSX training... he told me (mind you this is just what he heard from the ppl at the honda training) that the nsx is not going to have a V8 in it... it'll have a 3.5L v6 350HP version... b/c they didnt want to make the new nsx any bigger to compensate for a V8.

makes sense to me..... but all in all, we'll still have to wait.
