I just ordered a set of Porterfield FRP302R4S brake pads for the Brembo Indy caliper that Comptech once sold (12.4" rotor set).

The caliper is a bit different in terms of machined out pistons and I do not want to damage the caliper. How do you push the pistons back into the caliper to replace the pads?

I am currently running race pads and the dust is killing me!!!

Thanks in advance.

Let me rephrase the question.

How do you push 4 piston calipers back in when replacing pads? Do you just bleed relieve fluid pressure on both sides and push back like you would with the stock calipers or do something different?

Anyone want to share their wisdom?

I use a flat face screw driver with the pads in and use the old pads as a pivot to loosen them up.Getting old ones out aint the problem it is the nice fat new ones that can require patients and lots of tapping.I had some real issues trying this while still hot at the track.Best when done cool.

make sure the brake reservoir is open and with the old pad in place use a large c-clamp to compress the assembly.

I got the pads in today. I'll give it a shot tomorrow. I guess I'm still confused on how you push the two pistons back with the caliper in place.

Worst case I'll just have to spend some time bleeding the system again.

Is this what you are referring to with the screw driver to push them back in?
