I'm working in Melbourne for 3 months!

So this week I just landed a great gig doing pre-viz work on a film in Melbourne, Australia. I'll be leaving this Sunday, not to return until the end of Janurary.

I know there's alot of aussies on this board, so I'm just asking if you could suggest some stuff that I "can't miss" while there. Any good bars, clubs, local bands I must see, restaurants, etc. (basically I'm wondering where all the hotties hang out )

The worst part about this is, I just got my NSX 3 weeks ago and now I have to leave.

There are plenty of nice bars, clubs and restaurants and more 'talent' than you can handle I just took a 2 hour lunch because of it...

A little similar to San Francisco but without the fog You will be during summer which will be better.

If you could let us know what sort of food/music you like, we could point you in the right direction - there are plenty of places. In the meantime check out www.citysearch.com.au and search Melbourne. This is a site that is like a "what's on" in Melbourne.

Oh, and don't worry too much about your NSX, I am sure some of us Melbourne boys can help you out with a NSX fix when you need it.

So which part in Ghostrider will you be playing? The motorcyclist, or the demon that periodically wreaks havok? Since your an NSX owner, I'm betting #2.


If some of the Melbourne NSX boys pull their finger out maybe we can arrange a little meet up. I'm sure Dippy will be in with his NS... Once you have seen RHD, you'll never go back.

BTW, you didn't happen to get the plate of that red NSX you spotted?

And lastly, Fitroy St. is our red-light district. what sort of movie is this?!?!

As far as a get together and proverbial "removal of our fingers from our butts", I am ready to go. Especially since I now have my headers and exhaust installed.

Tell me where and when...Dippy and I still have not managed to have a inner city distruption run yet. Been crazy busy at work but things are easing up.

What sort of pre-viz work you doing? I am sure it would be interesting.

we basically get to plan out all of the effects-heavy shots in the film so the director knows what to do on the day of the shoot.

What sort of software do you use for pre-viz work? I'd imagine that you would only create rought models for the sake of camera angles and paths. But hey what do I know. I am interested in all this stuff.

we're using Maya 6.
I'm currently re-creating a small section of downtown actually!

and yeah, it ends up being pretty rough models, a little higher than video game-rez, with all hardware renders.
The camera is the most important part of this. It has to be 99% final.

Are you talking about the Pro's or the street corner pharmacies?

ok ok ... the area has cleaned up a lot. Now i see a lot of porsche's and sports cars on Fitroy St. Much more wholesome now!


I'm ALWAYS good for an NSX meet.... But <B>Dippy</B> has been waiting to get a new front end - some "black rice".

LOL @ "inner city distruption" ... Dippy doesn't need any help with that. His NSX is N-O-I-S-Y. But I'm sure he'd welcome your contribution.

In Australia, most NSX's fit that description.

If you get an NSX in the film, half the Prime members would probably check it out... tell your boss that equals SALES! j/k

I'm hanging to take to baby out on a run. She has been a bit neglected at the moment. Flight I'm up for it. This weekend the HSSC boys are going up to Winton for a day trip, I'm not going to track the car but maybe we can go for a cruise up to there with them? We can always do a little run if there are more time constriants. Let me know so i can try to organise some other boys to come.

Thanks Vik, glad you enjoy them. I have plenty more i haven't used yet... got some really funny ideas in store for you (well, i think they're funny ) ...
