In an effort, albeit small, to give something back to the terrific resource that nsxprime represents, let me relate recent events concerning my 16 year-old ignition switch.

Problem:

About 2 weeks ago, I noticed that my 1991 NSX wasn't always starting on the first try. It would turn over strong, rev to 2k, then quickly shut off. It always started on the second try. I didn't think a whole lot of it: cool engine probably...
The other day I'm driving home and, for the briefest of moments, I lost all power, and the dash lights flashed. Just as quickly as it happened, it ended. I was left with a sinky feeling in my belly. It happened again just before getting home. Now I've got a problem...

Solution:

I do a search here on prime and come up with two possibilities: dirty battery terminals/old battery and faulty/dirty ignition switch. (Truthfully, the differential was much wider; I just really, really hoped it was something which could be fixed easily...)
I decided that the switch needed cleaning. Unfortunately, I approached the problem bass-ackwards and managed to fry my ignition fuse while removing the ignition switch. Should've unplugged and scraped-down those terminals 1st. Live and learn...I temporarily swapped the rear defroster fuse (40A) with the ignition switch and she started strong but the key needed a little jiggling to get it to recognize that it was in position III. I started pricing ignition switches.
The next day, en route to the auto parts store for a replacement fuse, it did that momentary power loss, dash lights, thing. I called around and found a switch in town for $78.

Installation was straightforward. No starting problems or sudden inexplicable moments of power loss/dash lights lighting up since.

There's all sorts of wonderful advice on this website. But I've noted a lack of follow-up in many threads. This is especially frustrating when a problem has been diagnosed and a repair plan recommended.

So here's follow-up to a problem no one knew I had but which was successfully addressed with the help of nsxprime.

Thanks.
