hi guys, when I was working on my spark plugs, to my surprise, I found puddle of water under the ignition coil cover in the rear bank of the engine. The rubber gasket seemed to have deteriolated allowing water to seep in. I'm not sure how water got in there to begin with....maybe due to car wash or rain?? Anyway, is it possible to just buy the rubber gasket thingy or would i have to purchase the whole cover? Anyone have this problem?

ak,

I have seen this also on my 1991. It does appear the back bank is not as protected as the front. The underside of my coil paks have some rust, and the valve cover, although did not have water in it, looked like it did at some point, since I had a cloudy white stain on the black cover, under the plastic cover.

It does look like you can order just the gasket, although in the parts catalog on line here, it looks like there may have been an update between 1991 and 1992 (There seems to be an engine number designation for an updated part.)

The gasket must be on the intake side of the silver plastic cover (Although it would be nice if it were on both!!)

HTH,
