I know there are a few MDX owners out there. The wife's '01 has the Check engine and VTM-4 lights glowing. Tried retightening the gas-cap and on-and-off with the VTM - no help. Anyone with similar problems?. BTW- car appears to run fine. Thanks!

I had the same problem. Its the idle control valve. It's a $10 part and there's a TSB issued by Acura. I had the same problem and right before the same two lights came on the car started to have a rough idle and stalled at a stop light.
The car can be driven btw without doing harm. It's covered under warranty. My service person told me it's not whether it will fail, only when it will fail as they are all doing so right about now with the 2001 MY.
