Hi there,

I recently had the timing belt replaced on my 03 NSX, this brief context might be useful. Today I was changing the oil and noticed the sleeve/lug assembly pointed out in the attached picture. The sleeve was loose and I threaded it tight on the lug. However, I am clueless as to what it is. I would appreciate if someone can identify what this is and why would it be loose?

This is right by the oil dipstick.

That is the belt tensioner adjuster. When you loosen the pulley bolt, you can loosen/tighten the belt with this. Turn it to the left to loosen, right to tighten.
Just snug it back up.

To be more specific it is the AC belt tensioner, and had to be removed to access the timing belt.

The A/C belt tensioner pulley is also a common source of noise in the engine compartment. People have a tendency to tighten them too much which wears the bearing out.
