I'm scheduling a Sear's appointment, and they switched to an automated voice system, yech.

The worst is my health insurance and the cellphone 511. My health insurance voice system doesn't recognize speech well, and I hate to s l o w l y pronounce words, and the software still doesn't have 50% accuracy.

The local mobil 511 system is horrible, with 10% accuracy!

Ya, I hate them too. I "zero out" every time I can. If I can't, I call from a speaker phone and just let it sit while I do other stuff until someone pics up. :)

I like them. When properly designed, they let me get straight through to the person or department I want, instead of having to wait for an operator to pick up. And some of them let me enter my account number, so when I reach that department, they're already looking at my account on their screen, no need to wait for them to look it up.

True, but unfortunately, I find few that are properly designed. Most of the time, even if I enter all of my info, they ask for it again, or I didn't get routed to the correct department. Agreed, though, if they spend the time to set it up properly, they are not so bad.
