Hey everyone, so I have a dilemma. My 2004 Hyundai Tiburon has a aftermarket turbo kit on it. And its time to register my car but it requires smog. I'm desperate to get this thing smoged and registered. If anyone knows anyone who can help me please PM me. BTW I'm in the San Francisco / South San Francisco / Daly City area.

Thanks.

Unless that turbo kit has an CARB exemption sticker I highly doubt you will be able to get it smogged the way it is in CA. Anyone attempting to smog that car illegally would be risking their smog license and a big fine. The state has really cracked down on this and they run sting operations to catch unscrupulous business owners/technicians. Best bet would be to put it back to stock or register the car out of the state(only works if you already own property out of state and can live there a fair portion of the year).

What he said. The consequences for violating smog policies is very severe for shops in CA. The shop gets fined (in the range of 10's of thou$ands) and the individual tech gets his/her license revoked.

....and to add to these comments above, I am sure the forums are monitored for these types of activities.

I agree 100% with each member's posts. You should just put the car back to stock and smog the car. I'm guessing this is a Test Only Smog Check. Jumping through hoops is never fun. Good luck with everything

well i pretty much need help finding someone who will smog my car the way it is. I don't see posting on the hyundai forum making any difference.

Really? I thought that you could find some turbo Tiburon owners in Hyundai forum, and they might know some ways to go around the issue. If there is no difference, you should post your question in other forums like Bugatti, Bizzarrini, Pagani, Kia, or Daewoo. Why did you turbo charge that car? Do you have a cell phone? Call smog check stations will find the answer quicker than here.
