well, a few months ago i came up with an idea, where everyone with camera, and a car could post their movies in this website http://www.urbanracingvidz.com/

But i am really stumped. So far i had only 289 visitors. :(
I guess not everyone wants to share their car videos.....nor does everyone have a car, nor a camera. nor both, but maybe one but not the other.

how can i make this site work? any suggestions would be helpful!

i really don't want to see it going down in flames.

Considering your choice of "high school ricer vernacular" used on your home page, especially under the August 24 "update", I would tend to think that most people on this forum would shy aware from your site. No offense, but the NSX community tends to be more mature than what your site would seem to appeal to.

I'd say start from scratch, with a web designer.

A place to post videos could work. But you'd need to get the word out AFTER you have a flawless site

good luck

I just spend some time looking at it.
My opinion:

Redesign the lot, or make it better then what it is now.
- Menus where invisible, i had no idea where to click.
- yahoo crap at bottom is very distracting
- everything is misallgined
- there is text over text (background), simply unreadable.
- Bravenet freecounter thing looks no good, doesn't fit in.
- Use proper colors, you went the right direction with the top logo
- The forum looks like it just got dumped there
- Background image has to go

I know how difficult it is to design your own website, so what i can say is get someone who is a designer or something.
The racing scene is huge, but if you look at the sites in the car scene, you can see a lot of them are very well designed.

Advertise the site on other sites, get it in the search engines. Start posting a lot off vids your own, or even, get friends to register and post.
Post proper vids, without text in the screen. Vids which are 'new' and been have not been around for ages. Shoot your own footage, if thats what you want to be posted.

Don't talk smack in yur updates, try to sound proffesional, and don't update to often.

And the most important, have the ability to host them videos.

There's prolly a ton more things to do. What wonders me the most is which way your want this thing to go.

Let's be honest here, it's just an abomination of a website. My eyes nearly bled trying to read the text.

BUT, for some people designing is easier then for others, he wanted an opinion how to get more posters/viewers.
So basicly he needs a new webpage, but i think one also should tell him whats wrong with it, otherwise he'll never go the right direction, hence the question where al this is suppose to goto.

I wonder if he'll listen. Someone who talks smack are usually so full of themselves that they rarely listen to others.

Let's hope effort #2 will be far far better.
