:frown: so today at like 10 pm i headed off to my car to go to work, As ususal i warmed up the car, I have a remote start so i do this from my room. As i was headed to my car. I do the usual, lock doors make sure every window was close and so on and so on. The right front tire leaks air a little so i use the pump to put air into it. It was drizzling outside so i decided to sit in the car while the pump was going. Since it was remote start i put the keys in the ignitoion and engage it so it will let me drive ( basically click the key to the second position and step on the brake.) Inadvertently it locks my car...I didnt know this, i had this notion of the car doors wont lock by itself or with the doors open... i was wrong. I step out of the car and shut the door. I unhook the pump and put it back in the trunk and lucky i didnt shut the trunk just yet. I go back to the passenger door to open it *click click* locked.. i think to myself ..WTF so i go over to my driver side door and tried that...*click click* WTF!! then i was like

"no way did i just f-in locked myself out of my car? and its running!!" some times pass and i have a screw driver and a cloth trying to pry my windows down gently but firm enough. No joy!! its like 11:30 pm and all my neighbors are asleep and its now raining... Then i think about it! i can roll down the window since the car is running and the window button is right there... Here the problem.. my house keys are on the key change that's... in the locked car! and my spare to my house and car is in my backpack...oh wait thats in the car to! so now i'm stumped then a blessing comes to me... One of my neighbor's porch lights turns on.. i was like "yes!! he's still up"

i run over ring the door bell and ask him for a wire coat hanger or some sort. being that he's a good acquaintance of mine he offers to help out with the
"i gotta see this!"

so i pry open the window just enough for him to fit the coat hanger in. and it gets to the button but... it wont budge it.. its to flimsy 15 mins pass in the rain and we try one more time This time he gets the right angle to where the hanger bends but puts enough pressure to lower the window.. presto the windows is down and i'm back in my car.. I gave the biggest sigh of relief and a big "i owe you a case of any beer you want" I thought i was gonna be stuck outside my house and my car for the whole night. lesson learned!

HAHA what a story what a story. I locked my keys in my car last night and had my gf break into my truck to get my spare then drive it 30 minutes to my school.! figure out a plan so it wont happen anymore!

I know the feeling. I locked the keys in the trunk one time while putting my car cover away. Had to get a ride home (45 miles) and drove another car down with the spare keys. Left the other car there overnight so I could get my NSX home. Then I had to get a ride in the following day so I could drive my other car home...what a hassle.

Last time I had my door panel off I forgot plug in the doorlock switch. No biggie since I never use it and never manually push down the lock knob. Guess I won't be making that mistake.

I had a forwarded mail from a friend and i don't know how true it is and never tried it before. If you accidentaly lock the car with your keys with a remote inside your car, you can actually open it with your spare remote from your home with the use of a cellphone. Just dial your home and have someone press the remote button and it will automatically unlocks it. Again i don't know how true this is. Has anyone tried this?

That's a myth.

thats why i always roll my driver's side windows down whenever i step out of my car with the keys in the ignition. those alarms sometimes works in mysterious ways and you just have to prepared.

i just did that this weekend on my vacation. Granted it was not an nsx but a mitsubishi eclipse spyder. I locked the keys in the trunk. Let's just say it was a PITA to get to.

I've locked my key in my car twice. The first time while it was off and the second time while it was running. Basically the story goes like this.

I was waking up to go to work and my car was in front of sisters car in a 1 car wide driveway. I move their car out of the driveway first and park it temporarily. I get my car and back it out the driveway and park it on the other side of the road. To save time I decided hey let me just leave the car on while I park my sisters car back in the driveway. I guess it's just like second nature whenever I step out of my car I lock the door subconsciously. I move her car back into the driveway and then go back to my car to discover the car is running and locked... and I'm going to be late for work now lol.

My sister didn't have a wire coat hanger so I couldn't do that. I couldn't really bother her neighbors because it's about 5PM in the morning. I couldn't get back in the house because my house keys were in the car as well. A fellow neighbor who has that door unlocking puller thing tried to help me out but it didn't work on my MR2. So in the end I had to call a locksmith to come open my car door. I lost about 140 dollars there :(.

After that I have since then made 3 other spares located in various places, 1 which sits in my wallet for the most part. No way I'm getting locked out my car now :).

I changed shirts one time while I had the trunk open (non nsx car).....threw my keys in there subconsciously and closed the trunk.....good thing I wasnt too far from home and had a spare key brought to me.......learned my lesson for sure......I also roll down my windows every time I shut the door with the key in the car. Glad you got your car open and not stuck outside in the rain.....that would totally blow.
