I have a '94

I was at the track a couple months ago when it was super hot, the last session of the day caused a engine light. I looked up the code and I get 42 then 36. I think 36 is due to my unplugged traction control unit. I bought a OEM replacement o2 sensor from a searched link on this site, I replaced the o2 sensor that connects to the cable sticking out the rear bank which is accessible from the top of the car. I had my local shop do it, so I didn't actually ahve to get under the car, but I was on top to replug the cable. Is there another sensor I am overlooking because I'm still getting the error. Did I replace the wrong one?

42 - Rear Primary HO2S Heater Circuit Malfunction (Bank 1 Sensor 1)

Very strange that it is still producing the error.

Check the wiring harness that attaches on top of the rear valve cover on the passenger side. Make sure a pin has not been pushed back in the connector body.

There are two O2 sensors; front and rear. However, you reported no front sensor error code 41. I agree with Larry; check out the installation of the new rear O2 sensor.

Sorry for the late reply guys, since the time I posted this, my S2000 got broken into and seats were stolen... had some drama. Anyway, to clearify, rear would refer to the one between the sensor that goes down along rear firewall correct? (error code 42)

The rear is the one nearest the rear bumper of the car. By definition there's only one firewall between the engine and the cabin, and that would be the front bank on a transverse, mid-engined car. You have to work around the large exhaust cannister (or just remove the exhaust) to get to the rear one.
