I woke up to ANOTHER speaker problem.

I got in the car to drive to work, turned on the radio, and BUZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.

This is the fourth time! No more.

The Bose system in the NSX is the worst stereo in any car ever. At least the AM radio in my 75 Chevy k5 WORKS!

Venting...

Where have you been sending them out to be repaired? If you send them directly to Bose you get a lifetime warranty for as long as you own your NSX. I know it's a pain to take them out and send them, but at least it doesn't cost $75 every time.

It seems that many of the older NSX's have had issues with the speakers. According to Acura of Brookfield they sometime simply unhook them instead of going thru the hassle of sending them out. Do the newer ones have more speakers?

Unhook them? What do you mean??

I have to agree. I am very disappointed in the speakers in my car. The sound was good, but then this popping sound soon after. Very annoying. In my honest opinion, you're better off going aftermarket. That's the way I'm going....

That's a common problem with an inexpensive fix, as noted in the FAQ troubleshooting sections called "What's that NOISE?" and "Sound System".

I thought this thread was about sound.

Either way, Bose is not exactly the best sounding speakers anyway. Absolutely NO mid-range. It just sucks period.

I sent in my dead Bose (driver's side) speaker for repair (to some place in Florida or Texas I think), and it came back *slightly* improved...I still have to turn the balance knob to about the 10PM position to be able to hear any sound, however.

I've never been a fan of Bose either. Why is it that they never publish specs for their speakers?? As an engineer by trade, I trust specs measured by scientific instruments.

I have fixed them myself. The ones I fixed are working.

Events:

Bought car - Right door Inop:
I repaired it...

Few Months pass... Left door popping...
I repaired it...

Few Months pass... Sub popping...
Beyond Repair... Replaced it with used one.

Now today Sub/Center popping...

I have it out of the car for repair.

I am just burned out on this repair.

THe Bose sounds terrible. Our Land Rover Discovery II has the HK factory system and it is WORLDS better (for a factory system.)

I have a complete aftermarket system from my last NSX in the garage. I will have to install it sooner than I expected.

If it makes you feel any better its the same thing in Vettes too.
I think the BOSE system is very strong in the mid range, the highs and lows no!
Mounting amps in the doors or with speakers is a bad idea IMO.

I used these guys as shown in the FAQ.
They use their own components and when I called them they claimed their first amp of this type is still out there in service.

LOL!!! Every time someone brags to me that their car or home theater has a BOSE setup, I just laugh and shake my head. BOSE is NOT known for their speakers and their ability. BOSE is known for their marketing strategy and ability to sell themselves. They used to make competitive products, created a name for themselves, and then started selling that name like McDonalds sells burgers. Have you ever compared the burgers of 20 years ago with those they sell now? BOSE has done the same thing with their speaker design. They have downgraded their research, development and design, but their marketing department is responsible for over 80% of cost!

At one time Bose built a great product(compared to other competitors). Anybody remember the Bose bookshelf speakers(301--i think) Amazing full sound for fairly small speakers. I've still got them 17 yrs later and they sound pretty good.

Ive always liked the bose ability to capture the midrange--something most systems do/did poorly. But i agree their newer stuff is pretty substandard. The bose setup in my 00 escalade was pretty poor.

The HK system in our Rangerover is pretty darn good. But my new volvo has the upgraded stereo option--and it is the best car stereo i've ever had. I havent checked who makes it yet--but WOW!! I like it better than the Yakamichi or whatever its called in the Lexus.

For anybody who hasnt dealt with the Nsx speaker situation yet--when you do I'd recommend pulling ALL speakers at the same time and sending them all in for repair. Cause they ALL will go bad sooner or later and frustrate the bejesus out of you. Just IMHO.

Great advice! I am pretty impressed with some of the new systems in upscale cars. We test drove the new Lexus with the Mark Levinson system. Sounded great.

I agree that the HK speakers sound good. I had some HK's in my M3 powered with an aftermarket amp and wow. They sounded really good!!
I plan on swapping out the entire BOSE system from my car really soon.

Now that I think of it. That weird buzzing noise I hear, when I use the CD, started after I had a company repair (refurbish) my Bose system. I thought it was the changer; however, I have the new Alpine CD MP3 changer and still have that buzzing/pulsing sound.
