I guess I'm still an NSXer at heart.

So I'm getting all geared up to go on another exotic car run. Then, I get a note claiming that NSX's are not allowed because they are not an exotic. What the.... ??? So I wrote back and said that I wouldn't be going, because if NSX's were not exotic enough, then my little cookie cutter Ferrari Modena didn't stand a chance.

Thanks. I'm not going to do that to the Ferrari though. Just add either a Tubi or a Capristo (leaning heavily toward a Capristo level 2) and I'll be good to go.
I know this is a little off topic, but do you guys know how I can reach Ken Crowell? I've been trying to reach him for some time now, but I do not recieve any responses to my e-mails. A phone number would be stellar.
Thanks:-)

I posted this letter on the Ferrari forum this morning:

With all due respect:
To say that Ferraris and Lamborghinis, etc. are allowed and Vettes, Vipers and NSX's are not allowed is totally fine. But to say that an NSX is not an exotic is just ignorant. And I don't mean that disrespectfully. I mean a genuine lack of knowledge. Everything about the NSX is exotic. When it was first introduced, it was WAY more exotic than anything else being made at the time (including the Ferraris and Lamborghinis). I can't even believe I'm explaining this. Of all forums, this is the last one where I would have thought that anyone would think that the NSX was not a true exotic. To say that an NSX is "just an Acura" is to say that a Ford GT is "just a Ford". Honda built a special factory and built them *by hand*. The construction is exotic. The materials are exotic. The design is exotic. The performance is exotic. The looks are exotic. Even the paint is exotic. The prototypes were tested by Aryton Senna himself!
I can totally respect keeping the number of makes and models down to keep the number of participants in an event down. But, "exotically speaking", NSX's have the right to roll with Ferraris and Lamborghinis any day.
:-)

Go get em Mike! Unfortunatly thier ear canals are probably filled with too much ego for them to "hear" you.:frown:

Good going Mike

But here is my take regarding what might truly be the perspective of the F enthusiasts objections. I think it has less to do with the orginial "exoticness" of the NSX vs. what the aftermarket has done to few NSXs. You don't see the same "defacing" of Ferraris that you see on some NSXs. And for true car entusisats and purists, such changes demote the car from maintaining its original "exotic" status. YMMV.

They should allow them based on the fact that everyone and their mothers tit drives a modena or gallardo or 911...

the last gumball had 38 911's in it and like 20 360's...

There was one blue nsx. I'd say thats the true rare car right there. To liven the bunch up a bit if nothing else, they should allow them. Not everyone wants to see the same exact car 40x's... variety is half the fun.

It's unfortunate that some of these people's defenition of exotic is also "expensive". They were probably thinking, heaven forbid we allow someone show up with a car they bought used for under 50k. If you want to call something a F car and Lambo run, do it, there is no shame, but don't dare set up an "exotic" run and not allow NSX's by claiming it's not exotic. I think the "bling" is cutting off circulation to their brain.

As for the after market thing, to each their own. I do agree that some of the aftermarket things get out of hand amd make the NSX look cheap no matter how much faster it goes, but again its all a matter of taste. As long as the owner is happy, the car is still and NSX. Just like the Saleen S281 is still a Ford Mustang, no matter what people and Saleen say.

"NSX not exotic"...BAH...THE IGNORANCE!!

Rant over, Sorry, im usually a quiet guy who loves my NSX. Win lose or draw I picked the lady up over a Porsche and never looked back. 6 year relationship and still going strong the car still gets looks and it still puts a big smile on my face. Hate it when people judge/exclude others without knowing exactly what they are saying.

Exotic as defined by Websters Dictionary =
exotic
[1,adjective]r
strikingly, excitingly, or mysteriously different or unusual
