I dropped a screw and I think it ended up in the manifold between the sc - am I !&*??

I was messing around with my coil pack, and I dropped one of the screws in the central engine bay. I'm pretty sure it ended up in the "space" between the engine and the supercharger.

I can't find it anywhere, searched for it and used a magnet for some time.

Am I f*d?.. or is there no suction there will it rattle until it just falls out...

PS: Can someone point me or send the comptech supercharger pdf manual? Thanks

Try this.

I'm not clear on where you say you dropped the screw. Sounds like it might be sitting on top of the block somewhere. Did you have anything exposed where the screw can get into the engine or supercharger? If you only had a coilpack off I don't see what harm it could do.

Thanks for the link! That helped a lot. What I did not see is a top-view picture of what the engine looked like without the supercharger however....

I really don't know where it went, it could have gone anywhere. I hope you're right and it's just idling around. Tell me - IS there a place that it could end up in the engine or charger? I hope not...

I haven't turned on the car yet but I am tempted.

There's only a few ways into the supercharger or engine. All of them are filtered or covered up. If you haven't removed a spark plug, or the air filter, or unbolted something between the heads and the intake (like the supercharger itself), the valve covers, or the exhaust, then you should be fine. Make sure the screw didn't fall down the plug port and is sitting next to the spark plug. You should always blow out the spark plug port before removing the plugs anyway to keep debris from falling down into the cylinder.

When I had the engine out of my MR2 recently, I recovered a small screw, two bolts, a 12mm socket, and a 15amp fuse (still good). So it is possible to lose a good amount of stuff in an engine bay without causing too much trouble. Glad it started ok.

It should be fine. I've accidently dropped hardware in that cavity before.

If you need it and can figure out where it is at, then what I usually use to retrieve it is a telescoping magnet, or for non-magnetic hardware I'll put a dab of window caulk on the end of the tool, touch the piece with it for a few minutes to let it tack up, then slowly pull it out.

I have a strong magnet, but never thought about the caulk... which is best, "white caulk" or "black goopy caulk"?

I lost the top of a meguiers mag polish can somewhere in the engine long ago, never found it:rolleyes:No worries though as that was 2 engines ago:wink:

A Toyota tech told me that stuff that goes down the sparkplug hole goes out the exhaust.

HA! If it's dirt.. if it's a bolt, your engine goes kabooooooom! Luckily, that does not seem to be the case. I checked the spark plug hole. I specifically know and remember that it was around the supercharger area/heads.

Welcome to the club.

There is a hungry cavity under the supercharger. I have feed it once. :)
