HI --- THIS for all NSX Lovers---I have to be the biggest fan---I had my first NSX sighting in 1993---and I was hooked ever since---I knew I would get one sooner or later:::Which brings me here--I have been reading forums for months deciding on year/color/ etc. Now I have graduated form college, got my first "real" job, I also breed dogs (CANE CORSOS) let me know if you want a puppy--and I am READY!!! for my first NSX--The only problem I am having is I never hear anyone talk about how fast an NSX is...I haven't driven one before and I hear a lot of crap about them being slower than a lot of stock cars. ie ford mustang gt, camero z-28, corvette, bmw m-5, I don't mind paying to be different because I would rather have an NSX and be quick than a mustang and look like everyone else and be fast!!...BUT DAMN IT I wanna beat someone on the road----55k I need some tire burn'N, loud pipe'N, good corner'N, tight brake'N, make your friends jealous, Targa top'N, Fast and the Furious, every girl with big boobs wanna take a ride'N, NASTY ACCELERATION!!!!! NSX

SO PLEASE -----ALL NSX DRIVERS---WHO HAVE U SMOKED!!!!
I am also planning on the super charger and custom pipes for my NSX project---

BE honest if I want some scary speed and performance am I bark'N up the wrong tree---- should I get a turbo Supra instead..

Thank you in advanced

i'm gonna sit this one out, just off to the side. I think I better get my flame suit on, cause I hate to get sunburned in january, and unless I'm at least 1/4 mile away, it could get ugly.

Oh my! If you are looking to beat cars, and your concern is "how fast is the NSX, and what can I beat?" then this is probably not the car for you. Not because it is not fast, but you probably don't quite "get" the appeal and purpose of the NSX. Drive one for yourself and see. There have been many Ferrari and Lambo guys that have had all 3, and they still love, and often come back to the NSX. Rarely, is there much discussion on Mustangs on this board.

Thank you both for your comments---I understand no talk about mustangs on this site---I actually hate them...lol but anyway---I think I am being misunderstood---I love everything about the NSX but just didn't know if it was quick or not---I had an acura Legend and a 2.5 TL that I still love.

I dont think the NSX is the right car for you. Supercharger or not, it seems that you will be disappointed with the straightline speed of the NSX. When your friends can buy a STi or EVO and go faster than you out of the box, you'll probably reconsider/regret your NSX purchase. Of course this is all based upon what you listed as what you're looking for in a car.

(...)When your friends can buy a STi or EVO and go faster than you out of the box, you'll probably reconsider/regret your NSX purchase. (...)

but in the end of the day.... they'll go home in a 4dr sedan with big wings and you in your beautifull NSX....

if speed and power is the main issue, buy a 92 civic, and buy a full-race 700wbhp B16 engine in there.... there'll be few guys faster than you

... i wouldn't trade it for my NSX...but that's just me

Thank you MoogieBoogie ---I really appreciate every comment on my issue because like my post says I wanted the truth---

that is true---they are ugly cars ....and I love the styling of the NSX and have loved it for over 10 years---it's timeless---I think I am going to have to drive one and then make my a choice---hell my Legend wasn't fast but it was quick --- and plus it was a LEGEND....thank you all for your comments and honestly

IF the car is half as good as the NSX community---I am sold!!! This is the best forum I have been a part of

This car is not for you if your #1 priority is straight line speed only.

Out of curiosity, what breed (in layman's terms) of dog do you breed?

Buy a Supra. You obviously don’t “get it”. Most NSX owners could care less if they can beat the car next to them at the stop light. The NSX was never meant to be a high horse power drag car. Sure it can hold its own against most cars on the road, but like MoogieBoogie said, there are several cars out there like the STI and EVO that can beat it stock for stock.

I breed CANE CORSOS aka Italian Mastiffs----www.freewebs.com/bluxl ---is my site but I would like to keep this about the car---I have some money and before it burns a whole into my pocket I need to make my mind up:confused:

I can tell right away the NSX will not be fast enough for you in a straight line. A 3.0L NA1 (1991-1996) NSX is comparable in acceleration to a C5 Vette, a 993 Carrera, a F355 or a 90s Saleen Mustang. If you want raw power get a Supra. If you don't track your car, get a Supra. It's the best bang-for-buck power ever. The NSX is one of the most expensive cars to extract additional HP from. If you feel that you don't want to get "smoked" by a C6 Vette or a Viper or a MBZ or 996, etc. than go Supra. You'll definitely get eaten alive 0-60 by a STi or an EVO.

The best things about the NSX's performance are only experienced on the track. Why do you think a 290HP NSX-R can keep up with a 500HP Gallardo?

Alright, I too have wondered as I have had that same question in the back of my mind but have not posted it as train has here. I am not able to get into it about the other cars that this car is capable of making road kill out of, but none the less, I have wondered how the NSX is with top speed as well as light to light acceleration, or compared to other cars that are currently on the road.

I have like many here have fallen in love with even the site of the NSX, but can't wait to find the one that is right for me. I am sure this has been brought up before in another post, but for me it is all about the lines, stance, the Awww factor as well as the nice agility of this unique vehicle. Since I have not yet had a chance to ride or test one, I am very much looking forward to having one parked in my garage as soon as I find that right one for me.

I know what others may think when someone like us who wonder about the capabilities of this car and it's mods and what type of HP you are getting after everything is said and done. I like many love cars in general, and for the exotics, well they all hold a special place in my heart and am one to rubber neck when I see the site of one, whether driving or in a parking lot, thinking....that could me me and someone like myself is doing the same thing.

I know this is a little winded and may have gone off subject, but for the newbies who are lurking here and admiring or even wanting to have a part of an exotic car, I don't think we should ever get flamed, but should be nurtured and given the right guidance will prevail into a well rounded individual whos passion is just as deep as others.

So what can you kill with this car!....just kidding, but really, what type of performance can one expect to have or experience with the NSX? I think that may be a better question. (I know and have read of everyone modding their cars and the "Hey post some #'s of that new Mod or SC", but we as newbies, sit on the sidelines wondering what that car actually does.) I don't think anyone on this board can really say that they baby their cars and only drive them at 60mph on the freeway....you know as well as I do that you sometimes feel that need for speed and like to open her up if you know what I mean. And I do not condone this type of actions, but I have done 3 digits in my Lexus going to Vegas pacing another vehicle and have had fun with her....But only did this when no one or not many on the road and had plently of room. We are not the typical Civic owners that like to Rev to get attention, but the look alone of the NSX says alot to the person(s) who see its presents.)

I too have been in love with this car since I graduated in 1991. I swore to my dad I would have one and he told me to work hard and then you will get one....now that I am turning 34 I am finally ready for my first NSX.

Cheers,

Revhard191

"wanna beat someone on the road"

Please buy something else.

99% of NSX owners are not street racers.

Buy a Vette / Must / something else.

Too many are getting totaled as it is.

Thanks.

This is simple. Crunch some numbers(search 1/4 mile times etc.). If you like what you see, move forward with your NSX research. Get to know some local NSXer's. Ask to go for a ride. If you like, go test drive one. If you like, buy. You like?

Yikes.

You're looking for the wrong car.

This car isn't for drag racing.
This car isn't for making people jealous (is any car for that??)
This car is fast, but it is not furious... I don't think it has feelings.
This car won't get you laid.

In my opinion... you need re-evaluate why you're looking at an NSX, because it seems you want it for all the wrong reasons. Some other cars may be better suited for you... maybe a supercharged 350Z?

The specs are no secret...just compare them to other cars. Here you go:
http://www.nsxprime.com/FAQ/Technical/performancenums.htm

What you don't see in the numbers is the incredible balance and predictibilty the NSX has at its limit and what it can do in the hands of a capable driver. You're talking about a car that was designed with Formula One technology in mind and whose suspension was tuned by Ayrton Senna.

A supercharged NSX-R would be a very potent car capable of performance numbers similar to all the big boys today: F430, ZO6, 996 TT, Ford GT etc. It might still get beat 0-60 but on the track it should be able to put up very, very quick numbers. But even a stock NSX wouldn't get embarassed. It would surely be much slower than all them but it would probably do better than you think, especially the Type-R.

We can't tell you if the NSX if "fast enough" for you. The NSX is fast enough for all of us already. And the ones who don't feel that way often supercharge. But you really need to drive one and figure it out for yourself. There's no amount of info that will convey how the NSX feels to you and if it's faster than the particular cars you want to "smoke."

SO PLEASE -----ALL NSX DRIVERS---WHO HAVE U SMOKED!!!!

I don't think I've ever heard an NSX owner ask this question. Lots of turbo Civic owners find this important. Hopefully you care more about how the NSX drives instead of which cars it can smoke. There are lots of cars it can smoke and there are lots of cars that can smoke it.

BE honest if I want some scary speed and performance am I bark'N up the wrong tree---- should I get a turbo Supra instead..

Yes, you are barking up the wrong tree. It sounds like a Supra will satisfy you and the girls the with the big boobs just fine.

Now, get over to www.supraforums.com before someone here orders a code red.

Ok, as a current s2000, and hopefully soon-to-be NSX (Fingers crossed) owner, here is my opinion: Both cars were never designed as drag racing machines; 0-60 straight line acceleration being such an american concept of "fast" anyways! Instead, they were engineered for pure driving involvement and exhileration for both the track and the streets.
Heck, I've even been smoked by some Ram pick-up trucks at the lights. But as soon as the S2000 gets on some twisty roads or on the track, then the car comes alive, and becomes one of the most formidable driving, curve-eating, thrill making machine that puts the biggest grin on my face. That my friend is what this car is all about and Why it has been revered as one of the most fun to drive. And I can safely say the same for the NSX as well, except better:biggrin: !

I'll try to give a level headed answer but I can defiantly see the gold mine of flamage that you've presented  I used to have a 2001 Cobra that pulled 1G and my last car was a twin turbo Audi and honesltly I don't miss either of them. The nsx does everything in such a way that the last thing on my mind when I drive it is my past cars. This car is absolutely amazing from performance all the way to the construction process as well as the materials it's made of. I've never had a car before that I would crawl around under it just to find some sort of cool forged aluminum part that I missed before. It's a top quality world class supercar and it comes with all the perks thereof (minus the temperament) Driving it gives you a feeling that you don't get from any mass production cars (sti evo gto SS camaro audi bmw or even an s2000) Not that there's anything wrong with the other cars, they just really really don't feel the same and after driving my nsx and I don't want to go back. There's something to be said when you have to look up to see the fender of a Carrera  My advice is to get one and not worry about who you can or can't beat. Think of it this way. You could drop 5k in a nova and go very very fast but would you rather walk out to the parking lot and get in the nova or the nsx? The answer to that question will let you know if you want an nsx. By the way an nsx isn't slow by any means regardless of what's floating around the intrawebs.

Yeah, What Nalesh said! No seriously, it sounds as if a C-6 might be a better fit. I think you might be disappointed with the raw power of the NSX. I personally, think mine is plenty fast, but I had all of those "fast" cars that would smoke the tires when you punched them at 75MPH on the freeway and got that out of my system. I just love driving the NSX; it is a supercar.
