Hi all, I just ordered a set of HP EVO's in hyper dark and very anxious to recieve them. I spent all last night reading up tires sizes and wheel spacers that are required for these wheels. With so many different opinons on wheels spacers i came to the conclusion that any where from 3mm spacers to 25mm would be fine. my question is, would i need spacers for all four wheels? and would the spacers effect the characteristics of how the car performes handling wise. what else do i need to know? and does any one have pictures of the hyper darks on a NSX? please help! thanks in advance

Jim

Have seen them on an NSX, but no pics. Don't worry, they look fantastic. I couldn't see the spacers affecting the handling, but I'm no expert. Make sure you post pics when you get them on, I'm anxious to see them.

I just got hp evos on my 92 and need spacers for all four plust hub rings for all four.

just curious if the hub rings would still work with spacers?

Since the spacers would push the wheels out from the hub, would the wheels still be sitting on the hub and be hub centric?

your hub will extend more than 3-5mm depth of the spacer so hub ring will still work.

get the thinest spacer possible. Just enough to clear the caliper. This will give you good centering for the hub ring and also plenty of thread for the lugs.

when you say "just enough to clear the calipers" exactly how thin should the spacers be? 1.5mm?? also i've read other people getting 25mm HRE spacers because it will push the wheel out to the fender, cosmetic wise it looks great, but would there be anyproblems with rubbing and handling?

I have seen thin spacer at Axis for wheel fitting they are about 1-2mm thin. It is basically a stamped out sheet of stainless steel. so thin they would flex & bend by fanning it up and down. dont know who actually sell them to end users.

3mm is about as thin as I can find off the web. I believe those are cast aluminum and will not flex or bent at all.

With Evo.
19x9.5 +38 you will not be able to use +25 adaptors. but to list disadvantages of adaptors here goes

disadvantages
1. Weight - for 19" you should use steel adaptors
2. stud torquing - you need to torque your adaptor every 1000-2000 miles. Make sure wheel shop do not ever use impact wrench on your adaptors.
3. Hub Centric - Steel adaptor may not have hub centering notch on them. I think H&R have hub centric notch but they are aluminum.

I would not trust using adaptor for track events so you need to take them off.

Hi

I am not into wheels and rims so I will be asking silly questions. I do now one thing and that is that I want new ones :)

Here is the NSX I now own.

As you can see in the posts there it has been lowered with Bilstein's on OEM springs on lower perch. It also has huge wheel adapters. Front 25mm and rear 40mm.

If I go with the HP Evo's in 18"/19" what do I have to do to make them fit?

I can maybe use the 25mm adapter on the fronts, but the one on the back will be too huge?

Please advice

TIA

Regards

You will need to store the 25 mm and 40mm spacer away. you will need a 3-5mm spacer disk and hubcentric rings.

If you use the 25mm in the front the wheel will stick out about 20mm.

Hi

Any pictures yet?

Regards

I recently puchased the HP EVO's +38mm offset (the only offset I've seen on these, and the same offset everyone here on Prime are buying) for my 1997. Keep in mind that '91-'96 require a smaller (thinner) spacer than '97 and up. I've heard of guys using as thin as 1mm on pre-97 cars. For my car, with stock brake calipers, I'm using 3mm in the front and 5mm in the rear. I'm actually thinking about having a machine shop take 1 or 2 mm off the front spacers because the wheels stick out just a hair more than I would like (they still look really good). I'm going to take another look this week and see if I can get away with 1mm in the front. I'll post a few pix when the project is complete!

i recieved my wheels 3 days ago, and i am still researching for tires and spacers, and suspension, i wanted all to be complete so i wont be stuck with aftermarket rims wiht 3in of fender gap. i think i am going with this set up for my suspension. if any body has opinions or feed back it would be great.

Re: Spacers with this setup
The 5mm spacers will make your front wheels stick out past the fender. I'm using 3mm in the front and it still looks slightly wider than I'd like, but I have a 97 so this is about as thin as I can go. Since you have a pre-97 you can get away with a very thin spacer in the front. I'd stay with the H&R, but when you do the install, with the spacer in place, measure your extra space between the wheel and caliper. Then take the spacers to a good machine shop and have them shaved down to 1 or 2mm (or whatever you need). Just make sure they know that both spacers need to be exactly the same weight and thickness. For the rear 5mm should work fine, but again with a pre-97 you probably don't need that much spacer. For the rears on my 97 I'm also using the 5mm H&Rs, but I had to dremmel off about 1mm from the ridges on the face of the OEM calipers. Good luck.

i have a 95 nsx red   and hp's 18/19/with ti-r's 225.35.18f an 275.35.19r with 5mm spacers, call comptech usa at 888 626 6783. I got them from comptech. i have the lights.good luck ....bill

I bought it from alex from the speed depot. for 920 shipped off ebay. I think couple other members on prime had also bought from him, all pretty happy customers. i've heard mixed reviews from the wheel guyz. so i would steer away from them. do a search on rpm 505's looks similar to the evo's but no spacers are required for them. good luck

My price is $799 + shipping.

The closer you are to Florida the cheaper the shipping.
